Featured Musicians: Brain Plasticity Ukulele Collective

I've been waiting for this week so we can feature Ann Arbor's own Brain Plasticity Ukulele Collective, which is an open community of local musicians aged 35 to Still Younger Than Craig Ross who play like 30 different instruments. These songs are all off an album, Strum Into Cognition, but as you might imagine it's only a tiny sample of what they put out and the real kick is seeing them perform live, though I just missed promoting their Fall Kickoff show at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Song choices:

  • "Turned Out Nice Again" (instrumental)
  • "Caveman"
  • "72nd Time"

Also because Across 110th Street will get our Youtubes taken now now, the opener and outro:

  • “The Employee is Not Afraid”—Bear vs. Shark
  • “Ruska Vodka”—Motorboat

2003 opener vs central. OSU had just won the championship in 02. I think it was probably the Clarett year.

Im in the student section and for some reason this woman and kid, approximately 5 years old are right in the middle of the section wearing 02 OSU Champs shirts and hats. I was about 2 rows behind and was amazed at the audacity. Unfortunately marshmallows were outlawed just before this and pennies were the sections choice, a few of which i took from people with bad or influenced aim. They made it to half time and never came back.

Why doesn't Harbaugh do the train formation anymore? Everybody lined up in a row behind center. Tomorrow would be a good game to dust it off.

I feel like that formation really works best with a jumbo package, like RB-FB-3TE, the point being that with so much beef you don't really know where guys are going to line up  (on the line, out wide, etc.). With the talent we have at the moment (i.e. WR heavy) it just doesn't make sense to go that heavy, and when you're putting WRs out there you lose a lot of the benefit of the train...

"Michigan Fans Everywhere": Last week my wife and I were in Wichita shopping. As we were approaching (walking) the entrance to Kohls a passing vehicle came to a sudden halt and a man rolled down his window and startled us by shouting...momentarily that is..."GO BLUE!!!". I was wearing a Michigan hat and shirt. We exchanged a good laugh and thumbs up.

There are spartys too. I was wearing my Michigan polo today, and while walking between buildings at my facility, the fedex driver was coming by and as he approached he slowed down and shouted “go green”.

The 69-0 score prediction brought back memories of the 1975 Northwestern game.  It was a gloriously miserable weather day -- cold and rainy.  By halftime the stadium was half empty, so I moved over to the 50 yard line, about 30 rows up.  Michigan kept scoring.
