Hail to the Victors 2022 Has Arrived Comment Count

Incredibly in the year 2022 we have finally managed to get a paper supplier to give up its precious pulp, slapped a bunch of ink on it, and bound it into a preview book of a season that's already underway. We also pre-sold 1100/1500 copies in a package last month so we have about 400 left. You are hereby invited to change that.

I am guessing we are going to sell out of them in the next few days so if you need your shelf complete, don't panic, but don't wait. I did tell UGP they could put a few in their stores so if you wander into one of their Ann Arbor storefronts tomorrow you may get lucky.

IF YOU ALREADY BOUGHT THE DIGITAL EDITION YOU GET A DISCOUNT

Say you bought the digital edition already but really wanted a print, I have a code to give you free shipping, so your total should end up being $30 for both. It's a one-time use, account-locked code.

WHERE'S MY CODE?

I am compiling a list of emails and sending them out personally, so wait for an email titled "Hail to the Victors 2022: Now in Print" from me. If you're happy with the digital edition you are welcome to ignore that email. If you're super-anxious and don't have an email from me yet (I'm on 190/1100), forward me your digital purchase confirmation real quick.

I BOUGHT THE PACKAGE; WHERE'S MY STUFF?

We have all the shirts printed and just got the books in. So the first thing we're doing is packaging up your books with your shirts and getting them out to you. Please be VERY nice to Underground Printing, because they're doing this work on the Friday before a night football game. We are INSANELY grateful to them for not just saying "Dude..."

I JUST WANTED THE BOOK ALL ALONG MAN.

It is killing me that anyone who just wanted a dang print book had to choose between getting the content digitally in August, waiting in hopes of grabbing one in September, or up-purchasing the shirt combo. I am very sorry; this is absolutely on me for not having my s--- together earlier this year. $30 is what we would normally charge for a digital+print combo on Kickstarter in a normal year when paper suppliers don't act like you're trying to deforest Brazil for a bunch of soon-to-be-outdated previews and whatever historical nonsense Seth and Craig Ross are on about.

IT'S SEPTEMBER 9TH SETH!

We were already late on the content part, but the real challenge this year has been an industry-wide wood shortage. The paper we use for the guts of the book is thicker than most magazine paper, because it's a big deal to me that photos with dark blue in them don't show through when you're reading the other side. The way it was explained to me is if you're a paper supplier in a supply shortage, and you can make more thin sheets for major printers or fewer thicker sheets for specialty projects, it's a no-brainer. My printing agent has been hovering over buy buttons since February, and we gobbled up what we could to print 1500 copies and overruns. The supplier we got most of it from then asked if we could delay a few months, then waited weeks to reply to the email saying "No we cannot wait until October for a football preview book." Apparently the entire publishing industry is going through this.

GOT ANY MORE OF THOSE BACK-ISSUES?

I am prepping another round but I'm completely out of some. I still have some 2021s, 2020s, 2019s, 2018s, 2015s, 2013 Hoops & Hockeys, a lot that that failed 2014 Penn State book I did with their bloggers, and one 2016 with a rip on the back cover (rip goes along the binding). The 2012s, 2013s, 2014s, non-ripped 2016s, and 2017s are all sold out. Asking $20 per book ($15 plus $5 for shipping). Email me if you're interested.

Out of curiosity, what's the timeline look like for those of us who preordered the book and t-shirt*?

*As far as I am concerned, the t-shirt is more important. Blake Corum has started hurdling fools and I must dress to match!

Loving having the digital roster in hand watching all the new rotations.  Too bad Anoma transferred after presses went to bed. Looking forward to the hard copy residing on my coffee table for the rest of the season.  Can't wait for the fool-hurdling T-shirt to arrive.  I hope it's as soft as my Mr. Brightsides T. Keep up the good work!

Great news I held off reading the digital copy for the printed one.  Something about the weight of it In hand.  Also with Corum’s  exploits this past week the shirt is aging well.

Wonderful news. I'm hoping to have it in hand by Monday Sept. 19 . . . it will be good reading on the plane from Chicago to Krakow, and in Poland for 3 weeks. Might even wear the t-shirt on the trip. I definitely am a troglodyte who prefers to have the book in hand. Even the slight ink smell of a fresh new magazine is pleasing.
