Great Day for US Tennis.

Submitted by mexwolv on

Today, was a great day for US tennis players.  Both Williams sisters and the Bryan twins made it to the Australian Open Finals.  It's incredible how these 4 players have been able to keep playing at such a high level for almost 20 years.  Hope the new generations  can follow suit.

Zherev did in the tournament, and he was basically an unknown. He took out Murray doing exactly that, serve and volley. If you are a big server and have to deal with the issue of being to tall to move effectively, you better get to the net early and often.

I think Isner could have been VERY good if he would have served and got to the net. He tries to play every point and it just never works for him. Same with Monfils. I've never seen someone with such athleticism play so conservative.

I'll insist til my dying day that France screwed Monfils over.  They should have realized early on that he wasn't ever going to be tamed.  They kept trying to get him to work with coaches who would be a "stabilizing" force on him.  He plays so much better when he just does what he wants.  I also think he would be better served if he could afford to play less of the smaller tournaments.  His playing style wears him out, and he's in amazing shape.  If he could go into the Slams and otheri big tournaments a little fresher, it would probably pay dividends for him.
