Plan for the Recruiting Home Stretch?

Submitted by umhero on

The recruiting Dead Period ends on January 11 at midnight. Jim Harbaugh will have from the 12th through the 28th to recruit before things go quiet until signing day on February 1st.

Last year he made plenty of headlines:

  • Jan. 14, the Dead Period ended at 11:59 p.m. and  Harbaugh arrived at kicker recruit Quinn Nordin's Rockford, Michigan, home for a sleepover
  • Jan. 15 Harbaugh hosted Rashan Gary's best friend, DT and Penn State commit Michael DwumFour, DE Joshua Uche, MO TE Chase Allen, MD OT Devery Hamilton, and UVA pledge OT Stephen Spanellis for official visits.
  • Jan. 18, Harbaugh went to Los Angeles to visit David Long. Long's younger sister asked Harbaugh to climb a tree in the family's front yard.
  • Jan. 19, Harbaugh went to class with tight end Devin Asiasi and his pal, Boss Tagaloa
  • Jan 20, Harbaugh was in Phoenix visiting Connor Murphy for another sleepover where Connor said they would "Netflix and chill"
  • Jan. 22, FL WR Eddie McDoom, FL LB Elysee Mbem-Bosse, CA DT Boss Tagaloa, and TE Devin Asiasi take an official visit to Michigan
  • Jan. 27, Nick Eubanks officially visits Michigan Wolverines

I'm sure there were a lot more noteworthy things I've forgotten but it was an exciting month.

We are approaching that same period in the process, what will our focus be? I would like to see Harbaugh schedule some sleepovers. If he can only pick three, who makes the cut, Aubrey Solomon, Willie Gay, Kai-Leon Herbert, Nico Collins, Mekhi Becton, Elijah Hicks, Jay Tufele, Isaiah Wilson, Tedarrell Slaton, or someone else? Who gets the first visit on the 12th?

Based on last season we can probably expect a couple visit weekends with a few surprise visitors as well.

This should be a fun ride with lots of ups and downs and a thrilling finish. I hope we have a Signing of the Stars event to top off the excitement.
