Jake Rudock to play in the bowl game

Submitted by MGoGrendel on

Just reported that he has an AC joint strain in his non-throwing shoulder.  He will be able to play in our bowl game.

I sprained mine freshman year of football and missed two weeks. The RICE treatment should have him ready to go. I'd say he will get at least a week's worth of practice in. We should be good to go.

Rivals is reporting it's Florida in the Citrus. Their D is pretty fierce and their O is putrid. Should be low-scoring

It will be interesting to see how the OL does with a good number of bowl practices (which are commonly used to work on technique and fundamentals a lot).

This gives us a fighting chance.  Let's send him and the seniors out with 10 wins.  Here are Rudock's stats for the month of November:

95-141 (67.4%), 1,296 yards (9.2 YPA), 11 TD, 2 INT

If he'd performed at that pace all year we'd have gone 11-1 and he may have been in the Heisman conversation.  Granted, the IU game inflates the numbers a bit, but every week he was extremely solid.  He probably would have gone over 300 yards against OSU if he hadn't been knocked out, against a defense that held pretty much every opposing QB in check this season.

This is good news on a Monday.  To think of Michigan playing anyone with a pulse without Rudock would be a discouraging task.  Happy that he gets to finish his career playing instead of watching from the sidelines.

Honestly, I am a lot more motivated to watch the bowl game now.  Feel free to call me a bad fan, but it's hard to watch a game knowing that the offense is going to set football back to the pre-1900s.

I'm so very happy to hear this news. Now I can look forward to our upcoming bowl game with excitement and enthusiasm. I didn't feel that way before, because I was thinking about us having to play without Jake Rudock.

But absent any word from the AD or in any of the SE Michigan press will wait and see what is said officially, and wonder what punishment may be meted out to whoever was the "source with knowledge of the injury" who leaked the information.

Great fucking news. Love the toughness Jake! Very thankful for your leadership and contribution to Michigan football. Without Jake, this is a 5-6 win team.

This is really good news. I think it would be interesting to see all of Jake's passes throughout the season and see how he has not only has improved but how much confidence he has gained each game.
