Softball or Stanley Cup?
Great win for the softball team tonight. Enjoyed watching it.
I'm curious: will you be watching:
- Softball game.
- Stanley cup.
- Both.
- Neither.
I'll actually be watching neither to start, because of my son's little league game. However, as a Blackhawks fan, the Stanley Cup trumps women's softball for me.
I'm kind of curious how much the Stanley Cup has interest for non-Blackhawks non-Tampa Bay folks, both hockey and non-hockey fans. I know there are many, many Red Wings fans here on the board, who will either watch to see someone beat the Blackhawks, or not watch at all. Obviously, the Stanley Cup has limited interest for many on the board, but I'd love to hear who is actually watching it outside of Chicago fans.
I'll be watching both, but mainly the softball for three reasons.
- The softball will move quickly, and barring a blowout in Tampa, Michigan will have won a national title by the start of the third period of a game that hasn't been decided.
- It's essentially a Game 7 in one versus a Game 1 in another.
- Lots of commercial breaks between innings to check in on hockey.
I hate the Blackhawks so some motivation to hope they lose but probably wont watch much of the Stanley Cup. I generally only watch hockey until the Red Wings are out.
Now if M wasnt in the softball game, I doubt I would even know the final game was on......
It'll go 7 games. Chicago will be down 3-1, and then win the next 3 in a row to take the Cup, including an OT win in Game 7 after being down 3-0 in the first period. That's what Chicago does. Grrrrr.
Anyway, the point being: the Stanley Cup finals is gonna last a loooooong time. Plenty of hockey to watch and enjoy. But tonight? It's one game, winner take all, and it'll all be decided in the span of 2 1/2 -- 3 1/2 hours.
Where you at WD? He will explain, in full detail, what the correct choice is!
Not a huge hockey fan or softball fan, so I will definitely be watching the end of the softball game as I love anything Michigan.
It's the same with softball. I'm a die hard UM football and basketball fan and don't pay any attention to the other sports unless they're really good and I watch things like the WCWS if possible.
So to actually answer the question, I will be doing my best to watch both. One on TV and one on my iPad.

Softball, no doubt about it.
Like I told my brother a few years ago when he suggested selling our AFC Championship Game tickets to "pay for all of next year."
Opportunities like these don't come along very often.
For MICHIGAN to be playing for a National Title takes precedent over Game 1 of the SCF, involving two teams I have no true rooting interest in.
GO BLUE!
