That's a keen insight and I guess that it depends on how you define Midwest.  Traditionally Nebraska would be called part the Midwest, or at least the eastern part would be.  But that's based on an expansive definition that says anything west of Pennsylvania and east of the Rockies is in the Midwest so long as what's east of the Rockies is also west of the Mississippi.  Then that whole Mason-Dixie line thing gets in the way.  Kind of a stupid definition if you ask me and I sometimes hear Oklahoma included in the definition of Midwest.

When I think of the Midwest what I think most people are referring to is the Upper Midwest, which includes most of the traditional Big Ten footprint, though I've heard people who argue about Iowa and Missouri.  Iowa being too far west and in the Great Plains and Missouri too far south.

But Nebraska really isn't in the Midwest. It's in the Great Plains prairie belt.  Although, I guess people can say that what constitutes the middle west geographically and culturally has changed over time. On that basis, Ohio and Michigan now really share more with the East Coast.  Obviously Ohio borders Pennsylvania.  Less obviously, Michigan is about a four-hour drive by car through Canada to western New York.

He lives in Minnesota, so that must sting a little more than the average game. But, he definitely handled it pretty well, for now. I’d like to see his rapid reactions from his bathroom if they continue losing in the most Nebraska way possible.

Just drove through Nebraska with my son. The best thing I can say about Nebraska is there are a ton of sunflowers. Other than that, it was indistinguishable from Iowa, and didn't change a lick from beginning to end. But I hear the fans are pretty nice.

Interstate all the way through Iowa and Nebraska. We stopped for the night in Kearney. Even the eastern portion of Colorado up to Denver looked exactly like Nebraska and Iowa. We did the drive from Chicago to Phoenix last year on interstates and there are some amazing vistas in New Mexico and Arizona, not to mention the best breakfast burrito I've ever had in Albuquerque.

Agreed. Nebraska is a snoozefest, aside from the North Platte area. That was tolerable. Also, on CO, I couldn't believe how farmy it was east of Denver. But an hour and a half later you're high up in the rockies on one of the most beautiful Interstates in America. So again, agreed haha

The 1986 Fiesta Bowl was one of the harder hitting games I can remember. Nebraska blew a lead   ( we woke up) in the second half of that game too. Harbaugh ran in two scores in the third quarter.

Was not impressed by ANY of the teams I saw play yesterday. Great to have CFB back!

My closet friend lives in Nebraska and I have had the chance to visit and go to the last 2 Michigan games in Lincoln. They are good people and deserve better. But I’m not sure they ever get back to where they were in the 90’s. The coaching carousel has really hurt them. Their defense looked ok last night but I think that may be because Minnesota is awful.

That was not an entertaining game to watch.

I’m so glad those days are behind Michigan.

I feel for him, but it is funny where he's like "this is year 7 for Minny and they had an ugly game and this is Rhule's first game" because, buddy, this has been years of Nebraska blowing close games because of dumb mistakes.  Rhule's a good coach but the last guy got fired because he couldn't win close games to save his life and Nebraska blowing this game in regulation after leading 10-3 with about 2.5 minutes to go is very on brand.

I think Nebraska will be better under Matt Rhule but that might still only be 8-9 wins a year.

This is really bad TWIS material. Needs more hysterics, less Henri impersonation.

Matt Rhule's crew deciding to throw the ball on a potential seal-the-game drive was pretty great. Meet the new dimwits: same as the old dimwits.
