Will we be ranked this week?
I know that some on this board don’t care about the rankings until the very do the season, but I, for one, like seeing us in the top 25. I think it’s important for recruiting to consistently be ranked, and ranked teams going head to head get a bit more play in the media and on shows like Gameday. So, with that set up, where, if at all, does everyone think we will be ranked. A number of ranked teams lost opening week.
Own breakdown:
Lost but will remain ahead of us: Clemson, UNC, Miami
Lost and should fall out of the T25: Louisville, Washington, Indiana
Lost and we may jump them: Wisconsin
That means that there are 3, possibly 4, spots open. MAC caveats apply, but we pounded our opening week opponent.
My prediction is that we sneak in around 24-25. What says everyone else?

Why the obsession with being ranked???

It's a marketing and sales type advantage. Higher ranked teams are talked about more, get more notice, are considered more favorably, etc. It is advantageous to brand, recruiting, and sales.

Actually it is winning the games you play that does all of that

I've heard an argument that winning and being ranked are correlated.

Of course.
But we are talking about which is better A or B, where:
A is winning 1 game and being ranked.
B is winning that same 1 game by the same amount and being unranked.
A is better.

How much airtime would a team that is 7-0 and unranked get??????? Rankings mean little......winning means everything

I would say 24th. Penn State is getting way too much respect for their win. I saw people saying they’re a top 5 team. That’s the biggest joke I’ve heard all year. If they’re top 5 then Michigan is a top 10 team. Rankings are so ridiculous this early in the season. They should wait until week 4 or 5 to put out rankings in my opinion. Alabama should be number 1 and the rest is just bullshit as of right now. Way too early to gage how good teams are.

If we keep winning it will take care of itself. Used to bother me when they were unbanked or ranked low. Now I just care that they win. At the end of the year the polls work themselves out unless you are outside of power five.

Don’t see us jumping into the top 25 yet. We got a lot more to prove.
