Michigan Baseball ranked #1 in the nation

Baseball America poll—the oldest top-25 in college baseball—has ranked Michigan #1 after an opening weekend that saw #8 Michigan defeat #1 Vanderbilt in the opener, beat Cal Poly in a tight game and immediately get on a bus to face #3 Arizona State in Tempe. Michigan beat them 5-0.

3 games in 2 days and two wins over top-3 teams was enough to get everyone to ignore the 7-1 loss to UConn yesterday that was played on very short rest.

First time in the history of the poll that dates back to the early 1980s.

I do love the Fire Bakich movement because the timing was just perfect. If I recall correctly, someone created a post right after UM blew a lead against Illinois in the Big Ten tourney 1st round?

I remember rolling my eyes because my recollection was UM was doing pretty well overall in baseball. It was trending upwards. It wasn't perfect but way better than it was before his arrival and that he is extremely competent. Arguably the greatest board post of all time because of how things have worked out.

I know there were people who were calling for JB to be fired but the Bakich firing call is sort of this boards Dewey beats Truman call.

This is an unbelievable accomplishment.  Northern NCAA Baseball has long been considered AAA to the major leagues of the south and west.

I know it is just a ranking, but coupled with the NCAA tournament run last year, this is really amazing.
