MSU fans want Fickell

Luke Fickell appears to be the #1 choice for MSU fans. I am not sure how realistic this option is but it would be a perfect fit. MSU can position themselves very well when it comes to recruiting the state of Ohio.

Considering the back and forth between Fickell and Harbaugh over the James Hudson saga, it could be an interesting matchup between the two.

I personally believe that he is their best option and it's not really close. How likely is it that he ends up as their next HC?

$24 million over 5 years would be tough for Fickell to turn down.  I think he'd be making more than Ryan Day.  LOL.

Still, UC should be VERY good next year and will probably be the favorite to win the AAC.  He might be better off to stick it out one more year.

A job where I believe Fickell could be a good fit, possibly after next season, is - Tennessee.  That would be a far superior job to MSU.  And let's not forget that Brian Kelly could, theoretically, be gone after next year too, although it's likely Notre Dame's first outreach would be to Urban Meyer, although there's no guarantee that he would take the job.  Fickell would be a perfect fit.  And then there's the USC job, as was mentioned before.  Another great job would be the Miami job.  And here's a wildcard, longshot possibility.  What if Bill Belichick retires and New England hires Ryan Day?  That's the ONE job that might draw Day out of Cbus and then Fickell would be the logical choice for OSU.

If Fickell waits one more year, I think he'll have a shot at a better job at a better program.  I'd prefer him anywhere else than East Lansing.

I don't understand why Fickell would ever take that job.  He's already at a comparable school, in the middle of high power high school football in southern Ohio, and he doesn't have to play Ohio State unless he wants to.

I've thought for a long while Fickell is waiting for this job to open. He could have left in either of the past two coaching carousels.

The only question is if Fickell leaves now, or if he gives them the handshake promise he will take over after 2020 and let Tressel be the interim for an entire season. I hope the latter.
