First thing that popped into my twisted mind after reading this post: "It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again."

Not my photo, this is from MIHockeynow. If you don't follow them on Twitter, check them out. Great content.

for Michigan to lose to (admittedly an All-American-caliber) high school team. At any sport.

OFFS, US scores, 5-3.

Yeah. Didn't really make a case to be the #1 goalie.

IIRC Red said in an interview clip they showed that no one was #1 yet. It would be nice if someone took control.

D'oh. U-M loses, 5-3.

Good news: our recruits look good - well, I don't remember Allen's name being called much, but Motte & Compher were productive.
Bad news: they're not playing for us yet.
3 must win games next week - half of our remaining home games: one with Bowling Green, currently at the bottom of the CCHA (tied with NMU); two with Alaska, currently tied with us in 7th.

Reasons to not be worried
- This USA Team tied #1 minnesota and #3 notre dame
- Michigan didn't have Trouba who is beasting it up over at the WJCs and is playing for the gold medal tomorrow morning at 8am EST on NHL Network
- Jon Merrill only played on PPs and was a main reason why Michigan got a shorthanded goal to begin the game
- It's an exhibition. Players aren't fired up about an exhibition unless they are the ones who are the underdogs (ex: Michigan vs Spartak in the 80s.....look it up if you don't know what happened).
- These are minors they're playing and don't want to hurt them.
- NO MOAR EXHIBITION GAME INJURIES

...last week when they lost to Michigan Tech. God bless 'em, this just isn't their year.

"This USA Team tied #1 minnesota and #3 notre dame"
That does deserve its own caveat...and yes, that is a badass fact. Feeling pretty good about the future of hockey in this country, even if it means watching the NHL burn in the process.
These guys will, I'm sure, make up the bulk of the roster for the U-20 team we'll be sending up against the Canadians within the next couple of WJC tourneys. Hopefully Michigan gets their share of them, but I'd be happy if most (okay, ALL) of them decided to avoid the CHL and play the NCAA game anywhere in this country.

Reasons to be worried:
1. This is a game a good Michigan team should win every time. This is not a good Michigan team. Ergo, worried.
January 5th, 2013 at 12:08 AM ^
Actually, it's a game Michigan had won every time before tonight. It figures this team would be the first one to lose.
January 5th, 2013 at 12:32 AM ^
Michigan also has yet to play a regular season game with their 2 top defensemen.

But soon they'll be our jerks being jerks to other teams I dislike. So overall, I approve of this result
