I'm really looking forward to the GMAC Bowl tonight. The State of Michigan champion (at least until Michigan recaptures the title next year) Chippewas going up against the Sun Belt champion Troy.
Some interesting stories include two prolific QB's playing their last game, CMU playing without their coach and of course the expected frigid temps. Troy will be playing the game in their home state.
Since the Wolverines missed out on attending a bowl game this year this is one of the games that I couldn't wait to watch. Does anyone else care about this game and have any thoughts on whether it is going to live up to its tradition of delivering a closely contested high scoring game?
Why did Central accept the GMAC bid, when they could play in front of 60,000 of their fans in Detroit? Granted, it is in a nicer climate, but isn't it a bit of a slap in the face to the fans, who have supported them all year?
Also, they will be playing Troy in Alabama, which basically makes them the away team. If I were a student at CMU, I'd be pretty upset that after such an exciting run to the MAC Championship, they're not playing locally. Good luck getting 4,000 fans from CMU down to Mobile....
