"The University of Illinois is also in turmoil. The university sports an Interim Chancellor, an Interim Athletic Director, and an Interim Football Coach; the game will be played at Soldier Field, making this an Illini Interim Home Game."
A Yahoo reporter has taken a side on the call. Enjoy:
There's at least one funny "Volunteer" comment.
The reporter (Kaduk) is a former Wisconsin Badger and big Chicago sports fan:
Presumably not a Michigan fan? :)
OMG IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN!
Ok, so I'm headin to Indy tomorrow evening to attend the game on Sunday, so I wanted to make sure I got this out in time. I hope you enjoy these. I did two slight variations of the same idea. I like how they turned out and, quite honestly, I think these could make SWEET t-shirts. Anyone who knows of a t-shirt maker that could do this quickly, hook me up and I'll send you the files (they're photoshop currently, but I can convert the main graphic to vector for illustrator or indesign printing). I'm honestly not sure the last time I was this excited to attend a sporting event. I didn't get to go to UTL (biggest regret of my sporting life), so I'm hopeful that Michigan has a strong showing against the one-and-done poster boys of UK. Honestly, I was hoping for a revenge game against Louisville, but I'll take it because OMG ELITE EIGHT! As usual, constructive criticisms and/or ideas for new wallpapers are always encouraged/welcome. Enjoy and GO BLUE!

Would have been nice to have a rematch for some revenge but I think UK might be a better matchup if only for experience reasons. Our beloved Wolverines are practically old timers compared to all of their 1-and-dones and they won't have time to prepare for all the tricks Beilein has up his sleeve. I think the winner of this game takes the whole thing.
|True Shooting %||57.3%||57.6%|
I don't have a lot to say here except to note how RIDICULOUSLY identical both teams are in statistical profile. Rebounding and FT% are EXACT, 3P% is just one tenth off, and Steals, FT% and Assist rate are all razor thin.
I'd like to THINK that a team putting up identical numbers to M in the SEC should be highly advantageous for Michigan. I mean, by and large, they even play our game.
POSS - 64.7 / 62.7
FGA/Game - 58.2 / 54.3
3PA/Game - 19.7 / 21.8
OFF REB/Game - 10.7 / 10.7
It's unreal! It's a freakin' Mortal Kombat Mirror Match!
We will not be beaten at our own game.
How do we fare tomorrow? Here's a bit of a breakdown on the two teams:
Florida's Road: (29-7 - Kenpom - 1st)
W vs. Northwestern State - (Kenpom - 140th)
W vs. Minnesota - (Kenpom - 20th)
W vs. Florida Gulf Coast - (Kenpom - 89th)
Florida has had one of the easier roads to the Elite Eight. The knock on Florida is that they play in the weakest major conference in college basketball. They are Kenpom's favorite team, so if you trust in that ranking, we may be in some trouble. They beat Wisconsin, but also lost to K-State and split with Arkansas.
Michigan's Road: (29-7 - Kenpom - 7th)
W vs. South Dakota State - (Kenpom - 104th)
W vs. VCU - (Kenpom - 16th)
W vs. Kansas - (Kenpom - 10th)
Michigan's loss to Penn State and drubbing by Michigan State were the only real embarrasments of the season. Propensity to slack for the first 10 minutes of a game may put them in a hole. Naismith winner in Trey Burke. Top flight center in McGary. Weapons like GRIII and THJ could have honestly been the focal point of our team at any point in the past 15 years.
I think that we win this game if either THJ or GRIII shows up at all. I wish THJ got more touches per game, as he always seems to hit his shots. Blasphemy, but I'd rather he take a game winning shot than Burke. It just seems like he never misses. I don't see anyone on Florida that scares me like I did with Kansas. The Puppy is going to get his again. I think that we are not seeing a hot stretch from McGary, only seeing him achieve his average potential. He's a solid, solid player. Very skilled. It's a testament to how good this team is that either GRIII or Stauskas is our least valuable starter, when they'd both be 1-2 options in past years.
Living in the DC area, was very lucky to catch today's big victory over Maryland in soccer.
I've embedded some photos from the game below, but recommend you check out the entire stream (in much higher resolution) at Flickr:
