"I love it that Ivy League coaches are coming to our camp and Big Ten coaches are coming to our camp. South Florida is coming. We've got about 70 schools that are coming to our camp."
From the Chicago Tribune website:
Not to go into great detail, because it's behind a pay wall. But, as we all know, Al Borges and Fred Jackson were in Bri'onte Dunn's home last night. Turns out the WHOLE family was there, including grandparents, and the plus side for Michigan, Dymonte was also there. This is a very good sign for Michigan.
AP reports that the NCAA, always a friend to the Buckeyes, has given them a waiver allowing Fickel's staff to coach the bowl game while Urban Meyer's new staff gets to go out and recruit. What the hell?
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State sought and received a waiver from the NCAA that allows it to have two football coaching staffs at the same time: One under Luke Fickell to coach the Buckeyes in their upcoming bowl game and another led by incoming coach Urban Meyer that only handles recruiting.
Athletic director Gene Smith called the split staffs “normal in some transitions.”
The Buckeyes play Florida in the Gator Bowl on Jan. 2. But Meyer and any new staffers are not permitted to coach any players and can only recruit. The NCAA waiver specifies that no more than 10 coaches — and no more than seven at any one time — may be involved in recruiting.
There have been rumblings from other schools that the waiver gives Ohio State a competitive advantage.
Yeah, I'd be "rumbling" too.
I hesistate to bring this up, but I think it is an interesting question that I don't really know.
On one hand hand his coaches have had to establish some relationships with local coaches like Wilcher. His staff probably had some preliminary contact with many of the current class of kids. I would think he would have plenty of "remember me" phone calls over the next few weeks.
On the other hand he has much more talent rich states closer to him in Texas and California and why waste resources in Michigan where Hoke and Dantonio look to have this thing pretty locked down.
My guess is maybe a kid or 2 that is a borderline Big Ten recruit he may steal this year or next(but not steal any Michigan recruits) while he still has some ties and then basically leave the state.
Still think Dorsey is an obvious fit to Arizona.
Still hoping for one last interview F-bomb before he graduates.
