Coaches' timeouts are worse. Basketball teams should get one, full stop.
Building on Wettin 3's stellar investigative work: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/meaning-we , which uncovered the true meaning of "We On" warmup shirts sported by the M men hoopsters, and hearing Coach B mention that Mitch McGary's word is "Enthusiasm", leads me to the question... What are the other players designated key words they focus on daily?
If we have any Mgomoles in Crisler Center maybe they can break the code.
Mitch McGary: Enthusiasm
Eso Akunne: Openlook
Trey Burke: Unflappable
Tim Hardaway: Intense
Glenn Robinson III: Levitate
Nik Stauskas: Swag
Jordan Morgan: Bulwark
Caris Levert: Eat
Spike Albrecht: Maintain
Jon Horford: Health
Max Bielfeldt: Rebound
Matt Vogrich: Hustle
Blake McLimans: Fortitude
Josh Bartelstein: Leadership
Corey Person: Perseverance

- I decided to compile some of the computer rankings that are regarded highly and then average them out.
- Then, I went through and summed up all of the single plays that each of the upper tier teams has (lower number indicates an easier set of single plays).
- Lastly, I decided to show the current conference record and then an average ranking of the upcoming schdule (lower number suggesting harder difficulty, on average).
The one thing I didn't account for in the single plays or in the remaining schedule was any impact road/home games would have...mostly because I wasn't sure how to fairly do that. Still, I think it gives you a pretty good idea without any adjustments of how teams stand.
Hope the formatting works out properly for the chart...
This is quite remarkable... 18 months ago, many M fans were calling for Beilein's head... before you scoff at that statement, go look back. It is true.
Now, the remarkable part is that 18 months later, we're ranked #1, and Beilein may have as many as SIX NBA players on the roster.
Stauskas ..... don't scoff at this one... he is a true freshman that is showing some elite skills... if he has an above-average trajectory in his overall game the remaining three years, then he should/will make it.
Horford ..... he is still not fully matured...still looks like a kid... the metamorphosis may come this offseason.... it is in his genes with his father and brother in the NBA, so Im putting this at 50/50
Beilein is showing astounding talent evaluation, especially now with the uptick in the program, which bodes incredibly well for incomers like Zak Irvin and Derrick Walton.
Hoooooo---wweeeeeeee........ is the future bright for mens' basketball.
Your favorite University President made an ass of himself on the Twitters today when he Tweeted this:
Many excited Buckeyes in the Schott tonight—including me!Ready for the men’s basketball game against Wisconsin.— E. Gordon Gee (@presidentgee) January 28, 2013
Only problem is Ohio plays tomorrow. As soon as it was brought to his attention, he followed it up with this dandy:
Just seeing who was paying attention out there. Will try again tomorrow night.— E. Gordon Gee (@presidentgee) January 29, 2013
Why isn't this man in a home? Who knows.
(Edit: The name of that school down south has been updated to reflect the correct inferior University. Sorry for the confusion, fans)
I just found out the meaning of 'WE ON' and wanted to share it with the rest of the Michigan family, that didn't know where it came from.
"WE ON" is the team slogan created by the staff and players. It stands for "When Everyone Operates In-Sync'...
Apparently the staff created a U-M fuse box in the locker room in which each player has a key word they focus on during the season. Each player flips their switch "on" before every practice and every game.
There is a surprise selection for best big 10 defender, according to the "stops" metric utilized...Jordan Morgan!
McGary also scores very well, with only his tendency to foul holding him back.
At the very least...it's an interesting read and underscores jordan morgan's importance to the team's rotation.
