Didn't really think this joke would turn into a discussion, but great points. But, a small correction. They didn't just start. They just needed proper motivation to increase what was already a really good pay-to-play program prior to NIL.
They did all they could to fix the talent issue. Fortunately for us, they had an entitlement issue, which means you are right. They did nothing to fix the problem.
Ohio State's issue is most of the time, they can just go out and beat teams with athleticism alone. It's when they have to actually out-coach, out-hit, and outplay a team they get beat.
Congratulations, my middle child graduates this weekend. For our family, seeing her walk and get her diploma is something we missed out on when she graduated high school (COVID). Super proud of her and can't wait.
They are in win now mode, which for every single Lions fan is all new territory. Which makes it hard for me to judge how good it was. Previously they needed almost everything. This year they needed to do something about the secondary and did just that so I'll give it an A-.
Hard to tell until a few years form now on who had a great draft.
I think the Rams trolled Harbaugh and drafted Corum. Just joking of course.
Seems like we had a few players who could have taken a COVID year, who just said I'm ready to live my life whether that's in the NFL or not. I don't disagree with their decision at all if that is the case.
Anyone who watched that game or had any idea of what was going on could have seen Michigan had a really big "sign" telling the whole world what they were doing. Here's what were running, you know the play, now stop it.
I have to imagine there's going to be a string of trades coming up with so many high level defensive players still available (all of them available I mean).
Summary: If, when drafted, the player's college is = the University of Michigan, then that is good, and they are a steal at where they were drafted. You should be ecstatic that such a great value fell to your favorite team at that position in the draft.
The only difference is the NCAA never told Michgian to take the banners down. The NCAA never told Michigan to vacate any wins; Michigan punished itself for violating an NCAA rule that was not legal.
We are not discussing Ohio State right now. We are talking about the Fab Fives banners, which were taken down because one player from that team took money from someone he knew before he even enrolled at Michigan.
The NCAA had no authority to tell Chris Webber he could not take money; the NCAA broke the rules, and the university bowed to the NCAA's threat of punishment. It was wrong then; it is terrible now. Thankfully, Coach Harbaugh stepped up and finally did the right thing, inviting him back to be captain for the Penn State game.
I'd buy this concept if TV networks and Universities are not making billions of dollars. But, they are making billions, and there's nothing fair about not allowing the people generating that money to profit. There wasn't anything then or now that makes that ok.
Yet, the NCAA did not declare him ineligible, which is why the Heisman Trust stripped him of the award, for "accepting untaxed and unregulated money under the table." They declared him ineligible for accepting "improper benefits". Whether he paid taxes or not has nothing to do with the NCAA or the Heisman Trust.
He was punished for breaking an NCAA rule that violated the Sherman Act, which means the NCAA is actually the one who broke the rules by not allowing him to be compensated.
They absolutely need to hang them back up, and while they are at it, hang another banner up recognizing the Fab Five to go with the other numbers hanging in the rafters.
Is there a rule that I am not aware of that states if you are a stretch four, you can not play defense? I swear, it seemed like not too long ago we had stretch fours who were great defenders every year.
In the heart of Georgia, where the magnolias bloomed and the southern twang hung in the air like sweet molasses, there lived a young man named Johnny. Johnny wasn't much of a talker, but his fiddle did all the talking for him. He could make that instrument sing like it was born in his hands.
One warm evening, as the sun dipped low behind the horizon, Johnny found himself perched on the porch of an old farmhouse, playing his fiddle to the rhythm of the crickets' chirps. Little did he know, he had an audience beyond the mortal realm.
The Devil himself had heard tale of Johnny's talent and decided to pay him a visit. He sauntered down to Georgia, his eyes gleaming with mischief, and spotted Johnny on that porch, his fingers dancing over the strings of his fiddle.
"Ah, there's my opportunity," the Devil muttered to himself, his grin widening. "A soul as pure as gold, ripe for the taking."
With a flourish, the Devil approached Johnny, his red cloak billowing behind him like the flames of hell itself. Johnny looked up, startled, as the Devil perched himself on a nearby hickory stump.
"Well, howdy there, son," the Devil drawled, his voice smooth as honey but with a hint of malice. "I couldn't help but hear that fine fiddlin' of yours. Mighty impressive."
Johnny eyed the stranger warily. There was something about him that sent shivers down his spine, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
The Devil leaned in closer, his eyes burning with a fiery intensity. "Tell you what, Johnny," he said, his voice dripping with temptation. "I've got a proposition for you. How about we have ourselves a little contest? A fiddle duel, if you will. If you win, I'll give you a fiddle made of pure gold. But if I win... well, let's just say I'll be takin' a little something of yours in return."
Why would anyone cooperate with the NCAA? Those who cooperate have historically gotten screwed, while those who don't cooperate get a victory in court.
Assuming all of the QB's on the roster have progressed, then would you take the chance of running JJ the last 2 seasons? Especially when you have Blake Corum or Donovan Edwards in the backfield.
Every single player who was going to transfer would have been accepted, they just wouldn't have been able to transfer all of their credits. That has nothing to do with admissions, they do not set policy on what credits transfer.
Almost every woman I know gets super pissed when they hear that word, no matter how it's used. But I understand that other parts of the country and generations may not feel the same.
I'm glad that I'm not alone when I think of Johnson returning punts. It's just not worth it, I think Ronnie Bell against WMU first and not Charles Woodson against OSU.

Not a fan of Notre Dame at all but did you intend to say our 2024 schedule? Because our 2023 schedule was pretty damn easy compared to that schedule.

I've enjoyed the last three years, but beating them again will be even sweeter now that they've demoted their head coach to telemarketer.

Ask in 15+ years if Pete Thamel is welcome outside the stadium when visiting AA.
PFF rates players using their grades, it does not mean that is where they will be drafted.

Here's a quote from Joe Milton.
I would imagine that players have a box with every team hat sent to them by New Era. Then the players send back the hats from the other teams.

Spelled Mike and pronounced Mik-e or "Mikey", similar to how Nike is pronounced.
Im hoping Arnold
Shoot, forgot about that, just really want them to get a good CB. Was thinking they didn't have a fourth round pick.
At this point trading up to get Mitchell wouldn't be the worst move.
Normally I would tell you not to wish that fate on any Michigan player, but things have clearly changed. I too would love to see Zinter in Detroit.
Good pick by the Raiders, Bowers is a safe pick who will be a star unless he gets injured.
I hope Denver stretched before they reached, hell they could have traded a fourth rounder for someone's back up on par with Bo Nix.
I have to imagine there's going to be a string of trades coming up with so many high level defensive players still available (all of them available I mean).
YESSSSS!! WTG JJ, super happy for you as a person. Supper pissed that I will be cheering against you at least twice a season!
Denver would have drafted Penix before that. At this point a warm body is an upgrade to what they have at QB.
Please No, Please No, Please No! I'm torn I want JJ to get drafted but not by Minnesota!

Thanks for the info, I will admit I misread it and assumed the OP meant all credits transfer.

What rule did he break again? The rule that federal courts have said is not legal? That rule?

Not really odd, it's covered in the Constitution.
We were 6-0 last season, including 3-0 against the most challenging part of our schedule, without Harbaugh.
