Why don't any of these young players think about what they are giving up?
Burke is the star of the team, he's on the front page of newspapers, he's on national TV getting interviews, and plays in front of 12,000 fans who scream his name. This is a part of his life he will never get back if he gives it up.
If there's a good chance you are going to warm the bench in the NBA for years and/or flame out, why would you give up your stardom? This might be the highlight of his basketball career, that which he has worked his whole life for. I just can't imagine giving that up when you are a middling 2nd-round draft prospect who will likely end up in the D-league for several years...
