Imagine how this board would react if Michigan lost to some generic team in week 3, and all the players said "Who cares, we're focused on beating Ohio State" We would correctly view this as complete idiocy and something that Brady Hoke would have done
And yet, "we don't care And yet, "we don't care enough about the game!" IS an excuse. Far more so than "the special gameplan drawn up clearly shows the coaches cared about the game more than they let on, but the team wasn't good enough to win" which is not actually an excuse at all. Charles Woodson: "It would be really nice if Michigan beat Ohio State" would not be a remotely controversial statement. "We just aren't trying hard enough!" is what fans of every program ever say when they lose. It's silly. Yeah, I'm sure Harbaugh and Don Brown just don't care about the Ohio State game. That's been the problem, a lack of preparation and effort.
