I must admit I didn't notice MW's improvement until the B1G championship game so this article fills in some missing knowledge.  Great read!  Thank you!

Thank you, Alex for the outstanding coverage this entire season!   And for the record, I agree totally with your sentiments on MSU hockey.

I had forgotten how bad…

I had forgotten how bad Chris Schenkel was at football play by play.  Should have stuck to bowling.  Keith Jackson was missed for this game.

Frank Broyles, on the other hand, was masterful as a color man.

Thank you, Alex for a great write-up!  Been watching this team since '86 (enduring many gut-punch losses along the way).  This kid Fantilli is something special.  He scored a goal where there was no room to score.  He's right up there with Morrison, Porter, Conner, and Cammalleri in my opinion.

Enjoy this one, Wolverine fans!  We've seen far too many of these games go the other way.

I hope you're wrong.  We don…

I hope you're wrong.  We don't need any more sanitized, mid-sized, plastic-seated arenas which look and feel like every other arena out there.  Yost is a major advantage in terms of atmosphere, which in turn helps recruiting.

I'm all in favor of building the women's team a new rink and getting a D-1 program off the ground.  But maybe we can start with the athletic department paying for the club team's ice time?

From the moral high ground…

From the moral high ground perspective, there's no way UDM should do this.  UDM, however, is not a program which is large enough to inhabit the moral high ground.  They have to do this from a marketing/recruiting standpoint.

Ann Arbor Elder Law Arena?  Did I miss something?

Well done, BronxBlue!  The only issue I have with the game is McCarthy's play.  It seems he was consistently throwing behind his receivers over the middle.  His throws to the flanks were on point for the most part, but I'm concerned about what the Buckeye linebackers will do to late throws over the middle.

What was Iowa thinking with those uni's?  Have they been seen since '94?

Glen was a wonderful PA announcer.  I've done some of my kids' high school games and tried to imitate his style.  I loved how he introduced the starting lineups, starting with the goaltender of course and using the phrase "skating at center".  "Tonight's attendance, and we do thank you" was also a touch of class.

Thanks for the great writeup and for all the hockey coverage this season!

Thank you Dave for the…

Thank you Dave for the writeup.  I commented on the Friday thread that this game would be a test of character for the team after a frustrating lack of effort on Friday.  It sounds like the team worked a little harder in this one and got a result.  Credit to the Michigan team and coaching staff for bouncing back.  Again full marks to WMU who will be a tough out the rest of the way.

Great write up David.  I…

Great write up David.  I also attended the game.  It’s extremely frustrating watching Michigan trying to make the highlight reel play against a team that forces you to outwork them to have any success.  Full marks to WMU for their superior discipline and effort tonight.  The game in Kzoo will reveal Michigan’s character , or lack thereof.

Beniers reminds me so much…

Beniers reminds me so much of John Madden.  Not offensively flashy but can drive the play, score occasionally,  superior defensively and lethal on the PK.

Great work, Brian, thank you…

Great work, Brian, thank you!  As for everyone kvetching about the passing game, please keep in mind we were 2-4 last year.  We're not at the point where we should be worried about style points.  We will need an improved passing game to beat other teams on our schedule, but for now, let's enjoy a 3 touchdown win over a P5 opponent.  That didn't happen much last year.

I thought I read somewhere that Brian Bosch (sp?) and Jon Jansen were the replacement broadcast duo.  I would certainly prefer Dickerson or Shepard for PbP (Shepard's style is not conducive to baseball but could work for football) but Bosch is available and an improvement over Brandstatter's PbP.

I started dating this…

I started dating this program in 1976 when I saw my first game.  I got married to this program in 1986 when I enrolled.  For better or for worse-GO BLUE!!!

I just wanted to say I enjoy your work very much and I'm glad you're staying on in some capacity.  Hopefully stepping back will allow some peace in your life.

Jeff Jackson has been doing…

Jeff Jackson has been doing this to UM since his LSSU days back in the early '90's, only he had more talent there.  I'm somewhat glad this series was only on BTN+ this weekend.  Looking forward to watching the offensive showcase on ESPNU tomorrow night.

I thought the way to combat the trap was to rush 3 forwards with the puck until you get to the blue line, then drop pass to a following defenseman while the defenders are occupied with the onrushing forwards, thereby creating enough space for the defenseman to gain the zone and set up without dumping the puck.  Did Michigan not try this?

Thanks again for the hockey content!  Please keep it coming!
