I've always thought UCLA was a top contender for both Asiasi and Tagaloa, and the Bruins just hired Marques Tuiasosopo from USC. He was their main recruiter for the Trojans and this hire could push momentum to Westwood.
If you look at the January visit docket, you have a good idea of the prospects that Michigan is keeping on the backburner. This is something Lorenz has alluded to, as well.
I thought the same thing at first, but someone pointed out that FSU already has a commit from the same high school, so there's a good chance they've already evaluated Allen. They tried to get Cary Angeline, the USC commit, to take an official visit, but that fell through, so this offer is probably FSU moving down the board.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but FSU might not have Upshur slotted as that Y-tight end position that Allen/Angeline seem to fit. He might be more of a Khalid Hill type of guy for them.
The 2017 class should have many more players from Michigan, but don't overlook the Midwestern footprint of the 2016 class - there are commits from Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan
That's a pretty big hangup, in my opinion. The guys previously thought to be candidates (and some could still be candidates) were mostly LB coaches, like Shannon, Leavitt, Pees, and Anderson. So Pruitt would be an awkward fit that could require some shuffling of the staff.
But the guy can flat-out coach, and can also recruit. As a fan it's hard not to get excited about the possibility of Pruitt as DC, although Anderson would be a good hire as well in my opinion.
If it is Fisch that leaves, who I assume you're talking about, that would leave Michigan with three coaches on the offensive side of the ball: Drevno as OC/OL coach, Wheatley with the RBs, and Jay with the TEs. I can't see them having no WR coach, as that is a fairly technical position with a lot of nuances.
But if they feel they can get by with just having guys like Soup Campbell, T.J. Weist, and Derrion Montgomery coach the receivers, then they could do what you laid out.
It was a typo, sorry. Fixed it. Shannon told the Reese family that he is not leaving his job as LB coach at Florida. His name had come up as a possible candidate for the Michigan DC job
It could've been something like being two minutes late to team dinner or cheating in Monopoly at team game night, but good to see the moral righteousness is out early today.
Sam Webb thinks McDoom is at the top of Michigan's board with Crawford, but that they won't wait on those two if it meant turning away Young or Jones. So that's different from what Lorenz said (going by your paraphrasing, I didn't listen to the show)
I've read that they've pushed for certain recruits to commit while on their visit, though. Like they pushed for a commitment from Kemp at the BBQ, Fitzpatrick last spring, and others.
This article about the Chongqing team says that Chris McLaurin, another former UM player, is the coach, but there is no mention of Slocum or Butler. I assume McLaurin recruited those guys in the year and a half since the article.
It would definitely pay dividends, starting with his son. That school also has a 5 star cornerback in the class of 2017, Stanford Samuels (although he is an FSU legacy), and a 2017 WR who has a M offer, Clevan Thomas.
People laughed at the Jim Bollman hire but he hasn't been as bad as I expected. MSU was smart to let it ride on the shoulder of Cook and the hands of Burbridge; they have no shot to win without doing so.
The decision to go after Bridges now with Watson in the fold is especially concerning when they could've kept after Langford after taking Battle (and probably would've had him if they had done so). The coaches should've been recruiting with an eye towards attrition when they had Langford interested in coming. Starting to do so now when both Battle and Langford are gone + way behind on Bridges is just mind-boggling
I've never once laughed at someone who commented, "Alex Kozan" or something similar, but hey, if you keep doing it maybe it'll be funnier another thousand times from now

Changed it to USC now.
Sounds good to me
He mentioned it was about recruiting, but not about signing of the stars. Then he mentioned it wasn't about an individual recruit (?)
I have a feeling he's going to learn a lesson about hyping his site up too much tonight

They're going to get McDoom next weekend, and could get Chase Allen and David Long this week. Recruiting is about to get really crazy.

Uh, it's been only one year since they had the John Mackey award winner, Nick O'Leary.
