I moved to Denver about a…

I moved to Denver about a year ago and just bought a home. The suburbs you mentioned could be good options, but I don't know anything about them. Generally if you're not getting on a highway, there is minimal traffic, and if you are, there is lots.  There are a bunch of neighborhoods in southern Denver that could avoid getting on I-25 to DTC. Washington Park was mentioned and is real nice but also really expensive. As you go south from there and closer to the DTC, there are many other nice neighborhoods that would be significantly less expensive.  Some to consider are Platt Park, Harvard Gulch, and around the University of Denver. You may have a job now at the DTC, but if you aren't certain about how long you'll stay there, you may want to be more accessible to downtown, and being in those neighborhoods would be a good in between. Regardless I'd recommend finding a good realtor and take a day to have them drive you around to all the neighborhoods so you can get a sense of your options.

He sounds like the opposite

He sounds like the opposite of self-indulgent to me. The coaches quote said he didn't go run 40's or respond to college coaches interest because he preferred to be in the weight room and practicing. His coach is giving examples of him being self-less on the field and putting in the work behind the scenes, like going to coaches meetings on weekends. Not sure how you interpret avoidng the recruitment process as being self-indulgant. I'd have to imagine having famous college coaches give you positive attention is more self indulgant than attending your high school coaches meeting on a Sunday.

Eddie Murray's 500th HR

He became the third player after Aaron and Mays (at the time) to reach the 500 HR, 3,000 hit club. It was the one year anniversary of Ripken's 2131, and there was a rain delay so his last at bat before midnight. Was there with my dad and maybe 5,000 fans left in the park, and it was the loudest I'd ever heard Camden Yards. I was in middle school at the time and hated that Camden Yards played "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" for the 7th inning stretch and usually had a "No More Jon Denver" sign spelled incorrectly. That night I brought a "petition" which was a piece of poster board that said "No More Jon Denver" that I got people to sign. Because of the rain delay I had more time for signatures and as everyone got drunk waiting for the rain delay people got into the petition. I got the Oriole Bird to sign, found later signatures from Papa Smurf, Paula Abdoul, and Michael Jackson. Also had a guy yell "That John Denver's full of shit". Now I actually like the song and the tradition.
