Very likely to be 40-50% in fees added on. I got my tickets for $200 + $90ish in add ons = just under $300 total. YMMV, of course.

I picked up a Section 108 ticket for both semi & finals via Stubhub. Found out later that this is an "official" Michigan section - think I saw this on Reddit.

Regardless, expecting M fans to travel en masse for what should feel like a home environment.

Throwing this comment out into the ether mostly because I don't know where else to place it:

Any Rochester, MN area alumni/hockey fans making the trip up to the Frozen Four? Looking to carpool/save on gas money?

Alright, a few random ones …

Alright, a few random ones (in rough chronological order):

In summer 2009, my dad took a flight from Fort Lauderdale (my hometown) to Detroit. He sat next to a 5'11"-ish dude with long dreads and a memorable smile. "Where are you headed?" "To Michigan for football." "Oh, really?" "Yeah, I'm kind of fast (with a big smile)". That was pre-freshman year Denard Robinson.

Spring 2011 (my freshman year), I rode a tandem bike with Taylor Lewan through the Diag (and have photos to prove it).

Sometime in sophomore/junior year, my buddies and I are walking down Hill just past State. A car with full tinted windows rolls up next to us and yells for one of my buddies. Thought we were about to get shot. It was Frank Clark, wanting to say hi (they played high school football together).

And a recent (and my favorite)one: my dad plays tennis with a guy who played baseball at Michigan in the 80's with Barry Larkin, etc. Multiple CWS appearances. His son, a bit younger than me, went to the same prep school as me and my siblings. Small school with very little football program. The son, Ryan, walked on to the football team at Michigan at Jim Harbaugh's encouragement. Don't think he ever saw gametime, but he loved his time on the team, even as a scout teamer.

Hey M fans in MN - looking for 5 tickets to the Brown Jug game at Minnesota. Any leads, thoughts, or ideas beyond the usual StubHub/Seat Geek are much appreciated. Willing to pay a fair price, just don't want the fees if I don't have to.

8 yrs old. 3rd grade.

We weren't told until the end of the day for reasons that are probably smart but escape me at the moment. A few things I remember of that day:

  • When we were told, a classmate asked if an atomic bomb was used.
  • My mom walked with me to the street corner to pick up the "extra" from the newspaper that evening.
  • I had to practice the violin that night and couldn't focus even an ounce. Just a whole lot of tears.
  • And this photo, taken by a friend of my dad's who is a yacht broker. The day was September 10, 2001 and it was a beautiful late summer morning. The Twin Towers were an accidental backdrop:

As you'll note by my points…

As you'll note by my points total, I'm more of a reader than a poster. At the risk of grandstanding, I've got something to say, albeit very similar to many which I have seen here before. It's not targeted at any one person in particular, but more so intended for the audience as a whole. So here goes:

Let's put down our rivalry swords. I want MSU and OSU to lose in every sport every day. As sports teams, I don't like them. But this isn't about that. We're talking about young people's lives here, folks. As in people who came to these schools for an education, not to be caught in the crossfire of administrative and legal volleys. Many were (or are) athletes, but many more are not. Every day that these stories last in the news is another day that each of these people has to relive one of life's most cruel traumas. Every time one of us makes a cruel joke, well intended or not, is one more day that these people have to suffer. I suspect much of this will go away once we have our own sports to talk about, but if I may ask, let's stand down now. Cheer for our teams, yes, but don't be so reckless as to bring down those who have suffered enough.

tl;dr -- don't make sick jokes. you're not funny.

Atlanta area MGoPeople -- where does one go to watch games at or near Emory? I'm here for the summer and need to find some maize and blue compatriots.

Removing the athletics piece…

Removing the athletics piece, this already exists at U-M. AAUM and UMS both function under similar auspices. Independent board, CEO/President reports to University President. Also, as the article suggests, many universities (public and private) put their school-wide fundraising operations under the name of an independent foundation, and yes, athletic departments, too.

My point being, this isn't new territory for anyone. And the spineless NCAA isn't going to bat an eye, less the hypocrisy spotlight shine directly in their eyes.

Absolutely not. While pot is…

Absolutely not. While pot is legal in MI, it remains illegal (and possibly a felony -- need a fact check on that) on University property.

This comment belongs in a lot of threads, but I'll stick it here because I get the feeling this thread is gonna have a lot of views in the next few days.

For those who believe in this University, we do so not because of a single person, play or place. Michigan means something to us personally. Whether we went here or not, sent or will send our kids here, we chose this place because what happens here is highly significant and relevant. It meant something to us then, and it does still now.

Take at the world stage; it is full of Michigan alumni, faculty and supporters doing truly amazing work. It is no pedestrian coincidence that our alumni and faculty have won all the most prestigious awards in academics, athletics, and far beyond. If you find your support waning because a run of negativity has clouded our fan base, look within yourself. Remember why you care about Michigan, and hold pride in that.

We are a lot more than a "football school" or a "basketball school". That being said, success in athletics is undoubtedly part of our DNA. We expect to beat our rivals because it's part of who we are as fans. But for the love of this University, please try to find something more than a cloud of negativity on which to hang your hat. It's a pretty cool place, this Michigan of ours. I'll support it to the bitter end.

Close friend of mine grew up in Cleveland with FC. Always told me that FC is a stand-up guy with a challenged past. The few interactions I had with Frank proved that to be unquestionably true. Don't let one incident ruin your opinion of a person. In this case and in life.

I never post on here (see MGoPoints), but I need your collective brainpower. My older brother went to Wisco and is visiting with friends for the game. I'm planning on going to GameDay. Sign ideas?

I rarely log in to comment (see MGoPoints), but I've got a fun memorabilia collection for the music nerd that I am: original publications of "The Victors", "The Yellow and Blue", and "Varsity" and an original printing of the first "Michigan University Songbook".
