My biggest problem with preseason rankings is the overemphasis on skill position players (offense specifically) and lack of focus on linemen and defense.
I mentally have not gotten over the overturned touchdown. How can you make that call? He was obviously on the ground when he caught it but he was bobbling it and there was no way to tell he absolutely had possession before crossing the line.
This would be a two team year with major controversy about the Big 12 refusing to review TCU's third down TD in OT yesterday.
I don’t understand why this hasn’t gotten more discussion. Seemed like the running back was clearly across the goal line. Maybe it’s because there was no angle showing all of his body parts were off the turf.
Still, it was amazing that the majority of the calls seemed to go against TCU. Nobody could say the Big 12 was biased toward getting a team in the playoffs … that’s for sure.
You can’t ignore the extra game. The committee’s responsibility is to put the top four teams in the playoffs, not make sure everybody thinks it’s fair.
There are numerous scenarios where we could play OSU.
And I don’t want any of them to happen.
Right now we have a full year of gloating ahead of us. A full year of getting to talk about how we’ve passed them. A full year where they believe there’s something wrong with their program.
If we rematch them, and they win (which would be a possibility with Corum out and them getting JSN back) … that all goes away.
Screw that. They deserve to feel inferior for a full 365 days.
This is setting up for an Ohio State-Michigan rematch if TCU loses tomorrow. Don’t love that. Hopefully it goes chalk tomorrow and it’s Georgia-OSU, Michigan-TCU.
TCU already has beaten KSU, so I don't believe they should be punished if they slip up this weekend. They still should make it.
USC already has lost to Utah. If they lose to them again, isn't it hard to argue they're one of the top four teams?
I get that this benefits Ohio State, but I can't just ignore games because it fits putting USC in ahead of an Ohio State team that has the best win of the group of potential playoff participants -- a double digit victory at top 10 Penn State.
If USC loses the conference championship game they would have lost to a team twice. Really hard to ignore that and say they're one of the best four teams.
And OSU would have the best win ... a road victory against Penn State, whose only other loss is to Michigan.
I agree with you. I don't understand why anybody would reject the opportunity to play in the playoffs. I've read the opinion quite a bit from Ohio State fans that they don't want a playoff spot. That's crazy talk.
You never know what's going to happen. Who cares if you're blown out? What happens if the team pulls it together and OSU wins it all? That certainly would take the sting off last week's loss.
I'd rather win the national championship than beat Ohio State. Alabama has only had a couple of undefeated seasons under Saban. (Yes, I had to edit this because I’m an idiot and didn’t look up their records). Yet they're the premier program in all of college football. Does anybody focus on the losses they had in the years they won the national championship? No. We all focus on the national championships.
Also, if USC loses I believe OSU deserves a spot in the playoffs. I value good wins more than bad losses in determining the top four teams and OSU has one every game by multiple scores except for their game against Michigan. That said, I don't believe they deserve a spot over TCU even if TCU loses to KSU this weekend.
I want TCU. I believe they're the "easiest" path to the championship game.
Yeah, USC is beatable. But Caleb Williams is a problem. He's Stroud with the ability to run ... a lot.
He is very difficult to sack as he moves around in the backfield a ton. He would be a very difficult matchup ... probably the most difficult out of any of the four possible opponents (Georgia, TCU, USC, Ohio State)
I'm rooting for Georgia, Michigan and TCU to win and the rankings to stay the same.

QB SNEAK. QB SNEAK. QB SNEAK.
Don’t…
Love the attention.
Don’t put too much stock into it.

this write up is the perfect example.
So freaking huge.
Penn State should be good next year.
There’s your typically michigan clock management
Got lucky with that call
Yeah. It’s possible.
It just took almost a minute to punt the ball
The tempo is killing this defense. Giving up easy yards.
Well those good feelings didn’t last long.
Not once was anybody in the end zone on that last series.
also they have 3 on 2 and they run it back to the other players who could make a tackle.
frustrating.
Also, even though i have gotten over the overturned touchdown, QB sneak when you need a yard. every. freaking. time.
I’m not sure I’ve seen that play stopped in college or the pros all damn year. Especially when you motion a tight end to push the qb.

Can anybody hold onto the ball?!?
JJ … keep the ball there. It was open.

Yeah … Georgia still looks really good.
There was a space to easily sneak it in.
That’s a TD. … also sneak the damn ball to that open space.
It should be.
Gotta give the Big 12 refs credit. Nobody will say they were trying to help a team get to the playoffs.
yeah, but it’s looking like the semis right now.
Craptastic. I keep feeling more and more like we’re going to get a rematch with the Buckeyes.
So hard for DBs to play the ball when the QB does it. Lots of back shoulder catches and interference calls.
TCU has been coming back all year.
They’re replaying it on FS1 right now. USC is up 17-3. I think they got this.

Game. Blouses.
This is some of the worst tackling I’ve ever seen … and that’s not hyperbole
Williams looks terrible right now
Wow.
I'm just looking at resumes.

Exactly. I'm always amazed with people who think one game means more than a national championship.
Nick Saban doesn't have a single undefeated season at Alabama ... and anybody would trade resumes with them over the past 15 years.
Ugh … still so nervous
Close it out!!!
Close it out
My voice is shot. Screaming like a girl with my voice cracking while my life is laughing at me, enjoying my happiness
I’m in shock! Unbelievable!
Any points and I trust the defense. Just be aggressive and get some points.
keep jj looking forward. No under center play action.
Omg!!! What a play!!!
Agreed
Man … I really hate that decision.
I don’t like that attempt. Pin them
Ugh … that was a turtle call. Stay aggressive
Absolutely the drive of the year!
