Really hope I'm wrong, but this doesn't just look bad, it points to the people who were talking about Harbaugh being difficult to work for being correct.

There obviously was a reason people were saying it at the time. There were reasons to not believe those people.

I'm not saying the program is a mess. It's just not improving from when Harbaugh first took over. In fact, there are definite signs of regression.

It's Oklahoma. It's not just that they score a lot of points. It's that, as an opponent, you're not only scared of what they can do, but also how quickly they can do it. You never feel comfortable when they have the ball, and they know it. If they're down 14 points in the second or third quarter, you can just tell that an offensive explosion is coming.

The most frustrating thing when you're an opponent playing Oklahoma is not only do they typically have superior athletes (which Michigan has), but in order to maximize their advantage, they speed things up. And this makes sense. They think they're better, so more plays in a game is a statistical advantage.

I just don't understand the slow-it-down offensive philosophy Michigan uses. If you have better players/athletes, you want more plays in a game.

Sorry ... repost

12/30/2018 - 10:10pm To me the problem is a lack…

To me the problem is a lack of flexibility on both sides of the ball.

The defense only seems to be good against average offenses that can be overwhelmed with a little pressure. Against solid offenses, I've yet to see the Michigan defense dominate. Maybe Penn State this year if you considered them a solid offense.

As for the offense, again, it's a lack of flexibility. There seems to be absolutely no ability to go tempo. At all. In an age where every single top coach seems to know the ability to keep defenses off balance with up-tempo is needed, Michigan can't seem to do it.

The offense also doesn't seem to be able to scheme a short passing game that gives fast players the ability to run with the ball after the catch. When you watch Oklahoma and Clemson and Alabama, I see plays like this all the time (especially Oklahoma). Michigan seems, again, stuck in an older era of football. Hell, even the NFL is using this type of offense now. Just watch Kansas City or Chicago.

I think that's what is most frustrating. And none of this is extremely noticeable against teams that aren't as talented, but it becomes pretty obvious at the end of the year against the better competition.

Man, I still feel broken from the Ohio State game. I'm going to watch. I want Michigan to win. But my F%#$s given is just ... zero.

I’d love to see the Michigan defense be a little more flexible and adjust style based on what the offense’s strengths are.

I don't think that's the case. I just think their offense is more flexible. There are more ways to beat you.

11/24/2018 - 2:37pm Watching what OSU is doing…

Watching what OSU is doing to Michigan is why I hate the old school, slow-paced  pro style offense we run.

I'm sorry but you never see Michigan with receivers this wide open play after play against top 10 teams. It just doesn't happen. Even today everything Michigan is running is contested with 0 yards after the catch.

I get that there are benefits to controlling the clock, but it just lacks the explosiveness that all of these other offenses have.

Anybody who calls you a troll for that take isn't watching the game.

I can't believe how little pressure we're getting. And the only pressure we got seemed to come from the DTs. Not a good look for the vaunted D line so far.

DON'T CHASE POINTS. Kick the damn extra point.

11/24/2018 - 1:21pm Michigan getting every call.

Michigan getting every call.

11/24/2018 - 1:19pm Maryland, as bad as they can…

Maryland, as bad as they can look, has an offense designed to get their playmakers in space.

Michigan has an offense designed to pound you into submission.

OSU struggles with one of those types of offenses ... It's not the type Michigan has.

11/24/2018 - 1:01pm Michigan not doing the…

Michigan not doing the little things so far.

Wish our team would be able to catch other teams off guard with a change of pace once in a while. Everything always has to be so slow on offense.

Gotta make plays. That simple. Their DB made a good one.

11/24/2018 - 11:54am End the cycle. Did it with…

End the cycle. Did it with MSU. Time to do it with Ohio State.

Win the damn game.

11/24/2018 - 11:44am End the freaking cycle. It's…

End the freaking cycle. It's happened with MSU ... it's time to make it happen with OSU.

Win the damn game

11/08/2018 - 1:46pm YES! This. Absolutely no…

YES! This. Absolutely no reason to root for OSU.

The Game will matter to Michigan no matter what.

I don't understand how some people feel like OSU winning is a positive thing.

Ohio State losing (baring catastrophe) raises Michigan's floor to an appearance in the BIG Championship game. Plus it's Ohio State losing.

This might have been my favorite Opponent Watch yet. Laughed at the Battleship references.

11/01/2018 - 10:55am There is some seriously…

There is some seriously flawed logic in this post.

1. The SEC champion (assuming it's one-loss Georgia or LSU) will get into the playoffs.

2. One loss Alabama will get into the playoffs.

Why do I believe No. 2 is true?

Because one-loss Alabama always gets the benefit of the doubt.

Alabama has five national championships under Saban.

Know how many undefeated seasons they have under Saban?

One.

Four of their national championships include a loss.

10/26/2018 - 11:26am I want another OSU loss…

I want another OSU loss. Another loss for them and a Michigan win over Penn State should wrap up a spot in the BIG Championship (assuming Michigan doesn't crap the bed against Indiana or Rutger).

Another OSU loss with a victory over PSU means the worst Michigan should end up is with a spot in the BIG Championship game.

10/26/2018 - 11:22am Agreed.

This, 100%.

Agreed.

This, 100%.

Anything that makes Michigan's argument better. If a team is thought to be in the playoffs or in contention for the playoffs, I root for them to lose.

The exception will be Alabama in a couple of weeks against LSU. Bama needs to win that game. Bama always seems to get the benefit of the doubt and them losing against LSU could be bad for Michigan as it could mean two SEC teams in the championship.

That and an undefeated ND and Clemson would be no bueno.

10/23/2018 - 11:34am hah. well played.

Wow. I was totally against that play call. Thought punt was the right move with the defense playing the way it is.

Worked out. Nice job.

Dear all people who said the weather threads were stupid.

That's exactly why weather matters.

10/20/2018 - 3:31pm Exactly. This is when you…

Exactly. This is when you have to step up and play, coach and act like a nationally relevant football team.

10/20/2018 - 3:30pm Okay, everybody saying game…

Okay, everybody saying game over is ridiculous.

Yes, the lack of aggression is absurd, but this game is not over. MSU still hasn't moved the ball.

10/20/2018 - 3:28pm I cannot tell you how easy…

I cannot tell you how easy this game has been to predict.

If I can easily see how this is going, why can't the coaches?

Yup.

10/20/2018 - 2:38pm Gotta get more aggressive on…

Gotta get more aggressive on first and second down when on MSU's side of the field.

Yup. Just can't let him get a lucky pass or a timing route that gets him in rhythm.

10/20/2018 - 2:35pm Ugh ... I feel like…

Ugh ... I feel like everybody can smell one big fluke or wide open play coming for MSU and all of our collective asses tightening up for the next two hours.

10/19/2018 - 12:12pm Did you see the FFFF on…

Did you see the FFFF on their offense? I mean, it's hard to believe he sugar coated that FFFF. Every offensive lineman had a cyan circle.

10/19/2018 - 11:03am I think my favorite thing…

I think my favorite thing about these weather threads are the posters who get mad.

Why get mad?

1. It's a football message board.

2. If you don't think weather impacts sporting events and outcomes (especially football), you haven't played a lot of competitive team sports.

3. If it really bothers you, don't click in the damn thread.
