I'm curious if the market ultimately levels out due to schools getting burned by kids taking the money and running as Steve Miller would say. Best case scenario is collective bargaining allowing a player to get market value at any school versus having to go to the highest bidder to get that value. Patrick Mahomes gets his full value if he's in Kansas City or New York or anywhere in between.
So Harbaugh wants all this immunity and a 3 member panel, but wants a low buyout in case an NFL team comes calling. I can see both sides. I agree with Harbaugh not trusting Manual and I agree with Warde wanting the NFL flirtation to stop. So if I'm Manual, I'd give him the immunity and the 3-member panel if he'd agree to an astronomical buyout. Make Harbaugh commit to you as well. Harbaugh wants commitment from Michigan, but wants to be able to chase the hotter woman if the opportunity arises.
2 teams play a conference title game and winner gets a bye... meanwhile the non-title game participants are getting a 'bye' while 2 teams are playing the CCG. So in reality, it's not a bye, it's just a matter of when you play. Even worse, the LOSER of the conference title game gets screwed the most as they play the 13th game and still don't get a playoff bye! The CCG loser has to play 17 games while the CCG winner and non CCG participants only have to play 16.
So you're better off being Ole Miss or PSU sitting in the 7-11 seeds as non-CCG participants than you are being the CCG loser.
But it's all good when all Alabama coaches and players (and this year all the fans in the stands) light cigars for beating Tennessee. Irony knows no bounds....
Any Michigan fan who roots for OSU after the last 20 years is a hopeless. I pray OSU turns into Rutgers or Vanderbilt for 20 years to see them suffer. Slightly sadistic, but that's how every OSU fan feels about us and we need to reciprocate that feeling.
Edwards has clearly stated this past offseason that he's leaving after this year. In fact, it almost seems as if he has one foot out the door to the draft. The way he's bouncing everything outside this year is like he's just trying to preserve his health and avoid injury before then.
Curious how NIL plays out long term. Winning + NIL is definitely a chicken vs egg argument. The A&M/Miami strategy of buying freshmen and portal players versus the Michigan transformational strategy is the best example of chicken/egg argument. On one hand, you don't want to disrupt the locker room. Where on the other hand, you clearly need a baseline of talent to win and kids/families can clearly be bought (See Elias Rudolph + all of A&M's 2022 class). Michigan is currently sitting with an 850 composite score on 247 with 2016 Clemson being the champion with the lowest ranked composite at 846. All other champions in the CFP era have had a 900+ composite of talent.
I fully concur that he should be sole OC and OL coach and paid a Hartline-level salary. IMO that would hold him for a little while longer until a Tennessee/Nebraska level program comes calling.
Why are folks convinced Moore is gone after this year? 3 years coaching OL and 2 years OC to me is not quite enough to warrant a HC job that Michigan can't outbid imo. If that was the case, Hartline would've been gone by now (or will be after this year). I'd say Moore has at least another year or two after 2023.
Given the fact there’s 4 EDGE prospects in the ‘24 class, I’d wager Stewart, McGregor, Harrell, and 1 other depth piece are leaving. Was hoping McGregor and Stewart stayed through ‘24…
