I've been following Michigan football, basketball, and hockey since 2001, and I think there was exactly one instance when I didn't feel heartbroken after the last game of the season. The 2011 football season.

You know who people shouldn’t be crapping on in this thread? The goaltender. Having had the experience of giving up a goal like that (with similar time on the clock, but in in a game that in retrospect didn’t really matter in life), I absolutely assure you that he will remember that moment for the rest of his life. That’s far worse than what any fans in a “venting” thread can ever do. So perhaps let’s instead support the kid who will be the starting goaltender next year (and who really didn’t make much of a mistake on that play in the combination of mistakes that were made by our team on that play).

Didn't even watch teh game.  Fuck ND, can't take another heartbreaker.  Hopefully God doesn't hate UM football this fall.  Go Blue.

I would call Loyola's loss to us heartbreaking, because it was there for the taking for them, but our loss to Villanova can hardly be termed heatbreaking.  Great season for Beilein and his charges.  We would had to have played our A game to be in it, and we just could not muster it.

Since 1997 Michigan's major sports seem to constantly underperform in finals and for championships. Its old. every time a Michigan team reaches a final I already know the outcome will be a loss. I still love the fact that both Hockey and Football overachiever this year through great coaching. We just need to win one of these fucking games first

Exactly. The way Michigan has performed in national title games overall, but especially this decade there is no way they win. If this doesn’t prove the athletic department is cursed I don’t know what does. I am sure that whiny little pissant WD will come on here and say Michigan has 20 national titles in women’s skeet shooting so it is all good.

“Better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all”...not quite the same for b-ball and hockey but I think it’s pretty close. At the end of the day, it was a hell of a run. Our chin is up, and Michigan is raising damn impressive banners. I will take that any year.

Watching NCAA tournaments in April with your team in it is fun.  It puts an edge on everything else that you do during that time.  It's all you think about.

We all know the risk of falling of that steep a cliff, but we'll be lining up next year to do it again.
