Te problem is that the refs stated that his forward progress made the line to gain.

This picture shows his ankles in front of his head.  Being that he dove forward, this picture appears to show a point in time when he's moving backward.  This picture apparently wasn't his forward process.

That being stated, I still don't think he made to the line.  I would love to see a slow motion replay without the artificial yellow line to gain.  I think that the yellow line add by the broadcast made it look like he got the yard, when he did not.

Oh well, at least this contensious call was close, unlike Spartin Bob's clock management and Desmond Howard's trip. Those hurt me worse, because it obviously a bad call, with the opponant not being able to argue .

So much anger here. Honestly i didnt mean to offend anyone. Just wanted to state my opinion. Im a fan of football and more specifically, big ten football. I post on most team forums and decided to start posting here. You guys lost. I know its tough but you will get past it. Every team suffers bad calls and you had your chance to win. You failed to take advantage of those chances. Complaining about how the ncaa hates you and has it out for you is silly. Jim harbaugh has you entitled when you havent won anything, and have no reason to have this "how dare we lose" attitude. You lost, now wish us luck and support the big ten.

You are an idiot my friend. I cant respect you coming on here at all, you know you are going to get beaten up and I dont even respect that. You havent made one legit argument as to why the officiating was as unequitable as it was.

If you watch a lot of football, like the folks here do, Id be fair to say you know a thing or two about make up calls. Not only were there zero makeup calls, but consistent no calls and favorable calls to OSU. This is not just us saying this, look at your own fanbase! I was sitting in the endzone and OSU fans all around me were saying how they felt they got lucky with the calls all game, and when that spot happened, they were packing up to leave! I could go through and diagnose every blatant no call from the Chris Evans facemask, Brandon Watson Cheap Shot, or PI on GP that basically ended the game. I could also talk about how OSU hasnt been called for a holding penalty in 2 years at home. 2 damn years and no holding at home? With a running quarterback? How is that possible? I watched the line the entire game and was screaming bloody murder about holdings the entire game. It was incessant and irreverent.

The fact of the matter is that if this game were in AA with a different officiating staff that wasnt favorable to OSU because of their past and I get that. People are entitled to like a university that is in their backyard and be supportive of that. Columbus and the State of Ohio's only love is the Buckeyes, this is all they live for. Obviously, if you have some sort of any affiliation to ANY team or university, YOU SHOULD NOT BE REFFING THE GAME.

This is why the entire nation is upset and believes that Michigan got screwed and deserves to be in the College Football Playoff. If not, suffer the consequences of a big ten blow out at the hands of Doc Saban.

Maybe a couple more satellite camps and little jimmy attending a couple more rap concerts would have been the push you needed this year. Or reenact lion king again. That's what playoff teams/coaches do in the off season to make it an entire game and not fold up shop at the end of regulation. Michigan wins this one STILL if the team didn't start loading the bus after the tying field goal. Entitlement....harbaugh sowed it, the team and fans now reap. Sorry and "I wish you luck" with the grief counseling.

What are you gonna do for work when self-driving vehicles render your "skill" useless?

EDIT: Original post deleted so my reply seems wildly out of context now.

November tear showers bring OSU signing day flowers. I love that an entire fan base is telling the nation, AND EVERY RECRUIT, that it's Michigan against the world and the conference hates them. I know if I'm a blue chip recruit that id want to go somewhere where everyone says they have a handicapped team that referees hate each game.

After the media dissects the game, and the national attention to the screw job in o$u and after which you get creamed in your first playoff game without your hometown officiating crew, some of those recruits might rethink their decision.

First I thought that he probably got the first down. But I was counting on the refs to make a real, true , correct, call . Since they are trained to do so and should have had the best view.

It was close , too close for me to tell from my tv.

This picture  really proves nothing . Because who is to say this pic is showing his final progress. It could have been taken milliseconds before he moved slightly further forward .

Regardless nothing will  change , the call was made. The game went forward and we ended up on the wrong side.

We all need to accept it. Not because we agree with what happened , but because there is nothing we can do to change it .

Regardless of whether it was a first down or not (the actual video replay shown on tv looks like he broke the yellow line), Harbaugh made a lot of critical mistakes that cost him the game.

It was obvious Michigan was the better team on Saturday and I think Urban knew it.  You were putting us in horrible field position the entire first half and most of the third.  Your punter was amazing.  Meyer got extremely conservative with the play calling and decided it was best not to make a costly mistake and turn the ball over.  Harbaugh on the other hand, when given bad field position rolled the dice and tried to force the ball upfield and it led to two costly interceptions.  Harbaugh also lost his shit with his unsportsmanlike penalty on an obvious offside call that moved us into striking position for our second TD.  Meyer was opportunistic and played Michigan to make mistakes while Harbaugh got tight at the end which ultimately cost him the game. Once the game was in doubt - Meyer opened up his offense.  Meyer’s only mistake was a fake punt and that did not come back to kill us.

Michigan is a very good football team and one that deserves to be in the final 4.  Let's hope the committee feels the same way.  Congrats on a great game and I look forward to many more years of this battle.

There were very few calls made on either team.  Take away Harbaugh's meltdown and it was only 5-2.  There are always bad calls.  3 years ago in AA there should have been taunting on Wilson's return that lead to 2 of our players being ejected.  Watch that replay and tell me 5 MIchigan guys weren't taunting after he was tackled?  The list could go on and on.  Fact is - you guys played to not lose after the 2 costly turnovers when you should have been playing to win.

The one thing that has cracked me up during this whole debate over #spotgate is how gullible people truely are to what is posted on the internet.  Nobody can think for themselves anymore, I am referring to how many Ohio State fans believe that a supposed overhead shot (That we all known has been blown up cropped to support their claims) is truely undeniable.  The only good shot is that photograph by the photographer postioned almost directly down the line.

1. How are the chains never brought out to measure (I have seen chains brought out when the ball is a full yard past or before the line, just to confirm the call) (This should be enough for the refs to be fired)

2. How in the world did the review upstairs last just over a minute when everyone else 2 days later still can't agree? (Not saying there is enough evidence for it to be overturned but at least take the proper time to make sure of the reviews)

Last time UM got fucked over this hard was spartan bob 2001. That immediately led to an independent clockkeeper rule. If anything good can come from this, our AD has got to use leverage and threats to secure a rule against local refs. If he can't even accomplish that, he's just as worthlessly capitulating as Brandon, and it's up to us to dis-invest from football and make it clear why
