OT: NPSL Soccer Regionals -- We who were friends are now implacable foes

This really wouldn't merit much, but the moment has come: You have all been such good friends. Ann Arbor is my hometown, the place of my birth and youth, a lovely place I continue to enjoy.

This hurts me more than it hurts you.

But I cannot change what I have become. I live in Duluth. And our beloved* football club, Duluth FC, plays AFC Ann Arbor in the NPSL Midwest Regional Championship.

I was worried this would happen. My loyalties to my hometown and my new home rarely conflict (not even, or perhaps, not even remotely, when Michigan plays the local team in hockey), but this is one of those times. Sorry guys. Go Duluth!

*Beloved is a loose term of affection and should not be taken as a sign of, say, knowing any of the players or actually following the team closely. But they're MY local team and I have to root for them anyway. But I guess I'll be happy for AFC Ann Arbor if they push through. Now, if only I can think of some creative taunts for Brian...

NPSL is a joke of a league (I’m talking from the top). They literally had one club play a scab team in the finals last year

As a GRFC fan I have watched both of these teams play and I would say Ann Arbor is a heavy favorite. I mean no disrespect to Duluth, they did beat us fair and square, but this is Ann Arbor's to lose.
