OT - Madden '11

Submitted by exmtroj on

Best. Madden. Ever.  The gameflow feature is pretty legit, but it can be turned off if you don't like it.  The presentation blew me away, they had every team/stadium specific chant and song for my Packers.  The game animations are awesome and the most realistic yet.  Totally worth the price of purchase.  I'm going to live in this game for the next week or so when I'm not working.

The gameflow and graphics are without doubt unreal...but the strategy pad is total garbage...no reason to change the audible/hot route system from what was in the game before and what is in NCAA right now...Can't wait til they release the patch in september that lets you use the old system instead.

A while back, someone posted a coupon code for the 25%/$25 off an EA game on the MGoBoard (Sorry I can't remember the exact discount, but I remember it was pretty good).  Did anyone use it for Madden or NCAA 2011?

I pre-ordered Madden with the discount, they charge my card but reversed it until it actually shipped.  Haven't heard anything else from them since then.  Just curious if anyone else did this.

The Madden add on ESPN seems to be making a big deal about playing "full games in half the time." What's up with that? Is there some new feature they're trying to tout by saying that? Or am I the only one who typically plays 5 minute quarters?

Basically, you can set what plays you typically run in certain situations (Something like 20 situations, 15 plays/situation) and instead of you choosing a play every play, the computer will choose one for you.  You can set the frequency of each play as well.  From what I hear it is good for the casual player, but any serious Madden player will not use it.  In the default settings from the demo I know there were some issues with bad 3rd down play calls on defense (engage 8 in a 3rd and long, etc.)

It seems like a good idea, but I'm skeptical.  I'm waiting to hear how it plays from some friends before I commit to buying it.

I thought they were referring to the fact that you can set the length of the quarters in a game. Which is obviously nothing revolutionary. Hence the slight confusion as to the choice of advertising.

Madden for PC needs to come back.  I made it through some of my lectures simply because I could hop on campus wireless and play through a season with friends.  Pretty much the only thing that kept me from dropping into a coma during a few of them.

To any professors reading this, please note Michigan students tend to be literate.  As such you don't need to spend 3 hours a week reading the book back to me.

I am very half and half about buying this Madden. I liked last years due to it being way better in terms of game speed, realism, etc. in comparison to NCAA. However, this time around it seems NCAA made more improvements and Online Dynasty is always insanely good.

Usually when NFL games start appearing on TV, I feel like I have to buy it.
