OT-ish: Your best M Player/Local Ad Combo
So there's a hearing today on Name, Image, and Likeness rights for NCAA athletes on capitol hill. Rather than get into the details, inspired by a twitter thread from @AceAnbender, @hooverstreet, @YinkaDoubleDare, and @Candor_for_sale:
What is your ideal Michigan player/local business commercial? Would the O-Line film an ad for an insurance company like "how we protect our QB"? (@YinkaDoubleDare)
Franz Wagner for Metzger's Restaurant? (@hooverstreet)
Nik Stauskas for the Windsor Chamber of Commerce? or Sauce Castillo?
You all are more creative than me, let's hear what your best/funniest ads would be
Sidestepping the question...
Back in the old days, players used to do local commercials the day after they graduated or dropped out of school. Growing up in Lansing, I remember seeing Magic Johnson QD commercials.
I am surprised this doesn’t happen these days, especially from the non-high draft picks. There have been a lot of popular players at Michigan that could have used a few grand from a local commercial.
Magic’s other famous commercial from back in the day, at least for me, was a promo he did for channel 10. “In Lansing, Tim Staudt has...” {dramatic pause} “THE MAGIC SHOW!”
Franz Wagner for the Heidelberg
A Denard / Franz / Moe mashup -- these boots don't need laces -- ja!
Not local, but David Terrell for Bombas(s) socks would be amazing
Jon Teske in a sunscreen ad? Or Teske repping Melatonin?
Mitch McGary for Herbology
Brent Petway for any airline would work. How about Jarrett Irons repping for the east jordan iron works? Maybe Jake Long for viagra. The most obvious these days would be Marcus Ray for golden corral all you can eat buffets.
