JT Floyd Speed

Submitted by Ultimate Quizmaster on
Just saw the video of the Western TD. Floyd was slow on the play, but can we really say that he's not ready to play based on that one play? It could have just been one of those bad plays players have once in awhile. What do you think.

Coach Gibson said before the season started that Floyd is mentally ready but not physically ready. I'd imagine that statement reflects his explosiveness, speed, and reaction times. Floyd may need another 1-2 years before he contributes, or maybe moving him to safety would be better for him.

yeah there's (probably) no way that Teric Jones is ready to contribute against ND. Both of those ND receivers are studs. Hopefully, Justin Turner is ready for some meaningful PT

JT will eventually catch on. He is learning. But, for now I would rather have Floyd Simmons backing up Cissoko. Did you see that interception he had? /end sarcasm/

RR eluded that Floyd was a little nervous and needed to get his legs under him (something like that). More importantly, Woolfolk bit hard on the play and he had his legs under him. He won't be able to do that on Saturday.

Teric Jones wouldn't be any better than Floyd in man coverage. The kid just started playing cornerback. The thing that scares me about Floyd is that after the pass is completed, it doesn't even look like Floyd is sprinting. He totally gave up on the play as soon as the ball got past him. To me, that says he's not mentally ready to play, either. He wasn't hustling and it obviously hurt his confidence. That being said . . . there aren't many options.
