Josh Gordon - anything stopping us from offering?

Submitted by MinorforPresident on
So from everything you read this kid sounds ready and just waiting for an offer. He is a 3 star but a big kid at 6'4 and 215 lbs. Is there anything stopping us from offering? Or are we holding out for the likes of a Stallworth or Je'Ron Stokes? Just curious if anyone has any insight. Also on a unrelated note I remember there being some rumbling about Bryce McNeal a while back relevant to he may still be interested. Anyone have any scoop there? Thanks everyone and GO BLUE!

I've seen Josh Gordon's film, and I'm kind of meh on him, atleast for us. I think we got a faster version of him in Cameron Gordon. It kind of takes him awhile to get going, and we're looking for more speed. I would much rather have Je'Ron Stokes. Stallworth is more of a slot guy, so that's a different comparison. Bryce McNeal's not coming back.

FWIW/BTW, Rivals and Scout are on opposite ends of the spectrum in regards to Je'Ron Stokes. The guys at Rivals seem to have shut the door on Stokes considering Michigan, while Scout put out an article where he says he definitely plans to visit, and Sam Webb in particular, whenever he mentions Stokes in his podcasts, he seems rather confident in Michigan's chances of turning him. I would assume this would be why Michigan hasn't offered Gordon yet.

I just know it's getting late in the game so wasn't quite sure what receivers we were still realistically looking at. My hopes are Stokes has a change of heart, assuming he visits, and we pull him in the end.

Call me crazy, but all year I have been in the camp (are there more than 1 of us?) calling for us to take Gordon. When a kid is rated top 2 in the country as a Junior--beating out Stokes, among others, at that camp, by the way--and publicly begs for the offer I hate to pass him up. Recent events have only solidified my view that bringing in some kids that are die-hard fans of the school is a great idea. Looking at Gordon's film he looks a) HUGE b) well-coordinated and c) a little easy/lazy in his movements. It's hard for a 6'4'' guy to look like a waterbug out there but he really takes awhile to get up to speed and takes pretty rounded cuts. But I think it's hard to pass up on a guy like this, who could be a monster down by the goal line and--with the proper fire put underneath him--maybe just maybe a monster all over the field.
