Great article on MVictors feat. Bennie Oosterbaan's Godson

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

With the #47 making it's first appearance on a Michigan Football field since 1927, the opening year of Michigan Stadium, MVictors caught up with Bennie Oosterbaan's godson. Really cool article. He was given the game ball of the 1958 Michigan-minnesota game as a Christmas gift to his Godson, Ben McCready (named after Bennie Oosterbaan). It was a game played on 10/25/1958 and it happened to the game ball from Coach Oosterbaan's last victory.

I'm really glad they are honoring Bennie and keeping his legacy and memory alive. Despite the criticisms about the patch "cluttering the jersey", this is a great way to keep fans educated about great players from the past.

... with M Victors.

I really do dislike the jersey clutter, but a part of that is because I love the history and tradition at Michigan; and so naturally I think this is great, at least for the storytelling.

This is a very cool piece, and thanks for sharing.

I agree with the OP - this is a very cool way to honor the history of Michigan football and some of the players and coaches (and indeed, people who did both, like Oosterbaan) that have made it a wonderful history. Like anything else with a rich history, it helps to know what "Michigan football" means now if you know where it has been. It's rather fitting as well, that the first Michigan great to have his jersey retired should be the first honored in the "Legends" program.
