After a close heartbreaker of a loss last Thursday at #6 Northwestern, Michigan had just one more game left on the regular season schedule: at Detroit

The Wolverines have already locked up a B1G Tournament spot but this game still meant a lot as far as Michigan's NCAA seeding hopes. The top 8 teams are seeded and get home games in the NCAA Tournament. Michigan is currently sitting at #8 in the RPI as of today.

The Wolverines got out to a 2-0 lead by white hot Caitlin Muir and senior leading scorer Adriana Pendino. With her goal at 25:05 she tied the Michigan single season record of 36.

Detroit tied the game with two goals and the game stayed 2-2 for awhile but the wind was a real pain today. It severely hindered passing and free position shots.

After going scoreless for over 10 minutes the shots started going in when Caitlin Muir made it 3-2 Michigan.

The Wolverines scored the next 7 goals to take a suffocating 10-2 lead into halftime. Michigan led in shots at halftime 25-5 and the draw control battle 10-4. I list those halftime stats because most of the second half was played by reserves, allowing most of Michigan's starters to get rest in preparation for the likely B1G Tournament rematch with Northwestern next week.

After a goal by Maggie Kane to open the second half, Adriana Pendino became the new Michigan single season goal scoring record holder with her 37th of the season to make it 12-2, activating the running clock. 4 minutes later Kaitlin Mead made it 13-2 Michigan and that was the largest lead of the game for Michigan.

Detroit got 5 garbage time goals but that was against 3rd goalie Arielle Weissman with the bench emptied in front of her. She got 18:30 today with 3 saves. Senior starter Mira Shane had 1 save and 2 goals against in 15:33. She was replaced by backup Alli Kothari who saw 25:57 and had 1 save and 0 goals against.

Michigan got the last word, though. Freshman Claire Galvin scored her first career goal with 25 seconds left. Michigan got the win over Detroit, 14-7. The final score is actually the exact same as last year's instate clash.

Michigan finishes non-conference a perfect 11-0. A non-conference slate that included wins over #25 Dartmouth, #14 Colorado, #9 Denver, and #25 Towson.

Michigan is now 15-2 (4-2 B1G) on the season.

Michigan will be the 3 seed in the B1G Tournament at Johns Hopkins next Friday and will face 2 seed Northwestern in a rematch of last Thursday's game. That game time will either be at 5 or 7:30pm on BTN.

Michigan physically dominating Detroit. Especially at the draw.

Game was 2-2 for a bit but the wind played a big factor. @UMichWLAX leads 9-2 in the first half #GoBlue pic.twitter.com/pVFeMawZFE
