#13 Men's Lacrosse @ Jacksonville, 7PM on ESPN+

Men's lacrosse will take on Jacksonville tonight at 7 in their last Florida spring break game before heading north to play Delaware on Saturday. Michigan is coming off an impressive 21-goal performance over Marquette. Tonight's game will be streamed on the Ocho - ESPN+ this time (I discovered that an added benefit of the Hulu bundle is that I get to watch a lot of obscure lacrosse on ESPN+)

Anyway, J'ville is kind of a mystery opponent but Michigan should be the better team. But the Dolphins went 12-4(!) last year!  And beat Duke! And were one goal away from making the NCAA tournament! They got thrashed by the Blue Devils in a rematch last week but they're well-coached and could pose a problem.  But if Michigan can focus on handling its business, they should be OK.  This is a big game because as of right now, from here on out, every team Michigan plays will be ranked (Ohio St. is right outside the Top 20 but I'm counting that). GO BLUE!!

J'ville up 8-6 at half.  Haven't been able to watch very closely but from what I've seen it looks like they're just not finishing. And on offense they're getting caught ball-watching and not sliding well.

A few shots I've seen seem to reflect a return to their bad old habits.  They have to do a bettem  thjob of changing the levels at which they shoot. Far too often they'll shoot high-to-high, low-to-low and telegraph where it's going. Goalies are like major league hitters now. they're so good that 95mph doesn't phase them anymore. A

Michigan is down 3 now and Jv is going on a man-up.  There's no need to panic but they have to clean it up fairly quickly. This is extremely trap-gamey.

M wins 13-10.

Really started putting more shots on goal in the 3rd quarter. Absolutely dominant on faceoffs, 22/27

Taylor had 7 saves on only 10 Jacksonville shots since 11 minutes left the third.

Great 2nd half after a sluggish 1st.  Shot much better and Wietfeldt was great on F/Os. I really like Tiernan - he's a real crafty finisher/old school crease man.  All round much better half to avoid the upset (albeit vs a dangerous opponent).  Back up the coast to face Delaware on Saturday. Only gets tougher from here - GO BLUE!

Saw a cool fun fact that this is the same field where the team got its first win as a division 1 program in 2012. Almost poetic that the game was a grind and we were behind for a lot of it only to pull it out near the end.
