RR: "We lost to Michigan State, what, you wanna hang me off the building now? "

Submitted by BKFinest on

There's more:

"I mean, there might be a few people who want to do that, but that's the same  people that probably wanted to do that after the first five games too, they just weren't saying it publicly."

I love this fire out of RR. A me against the world type of attitude. He's going to do his thing no matter what his detractors say or do to him. As well he should. He likely has Dave Brandon's full support and will continue implementing his system now and for the foreseeable future. It's good to see this confidence in a coach, as it not only helps keep the current players focused, but can only keep recruits coming our way. We got your back Rich. Keep doing your thing. The best is clearly yet to come.

I thought this site was for Michigan fans?! All I have heard since we lost is fire RR, the spread is dead, and we can't recruit!!

FOR ALL THOSE THAT CAN"T BE ALL IN FOR MICHIGAN:

Join OSU or MSU they always have room for more Douche bags!!

Anybody can stand in and cheer for a team that wins but only a real fan stands by his team when they lose and cheer them on and encourage them to get back up and beat the next team

Imagine if you actually looked at the quote and not just a part of it.

I've got great support here. I thought the crowd was terrific. The support was unbelievable. I've got great support here at the university, you know. Dave Brandon, Mary Sue Coleman have been very, very supportive, the alumni, the former players, they all do. Everybody wants the same thing here. Whether we lost to Michigan State, what do you want, to take me and hang me off the building now? There might be a few people that want to do that, but it's the same people that probably wanted to do that after the first five games, too. They just weren't saying it publicly.

He isn't downgrading the loss, he is just saying the people bashing him are the same people that bashed him all along, they were just waiting for a loss to do it.  If you think he doesn't get the rivalry and doesn't want to win than you my friend are an wrong.  I think he is just fed up with the people bashing him and using this loss as a reason to again start the fire RR campaign, and they are the same people that wanted him gone but couldn't get support when the team was winning.  If they were 11-0 and lost to OSU these people would still be bashing him, that's his point.

And what do I have to show for it?  no wins against Sparty and constant bullshit from my friends.  Sorry if we seem a little pissed, Rich, but I was robbed of Michigan football when I attended here.  I'm still rooting for you, but I will graduate without seeing a good team at Michigan.  Not exactly fair

1)  This quote tells me he hates losing period.  I've always maintained that Rodriguez doesn't care which game it is.  I don't believe he views MSU as any different than any other game.  I don't believe he views OSU as different than any other game.  He views every game as a game he wants to desperately win.  That is neither good or bad to me.  I hate the Spartans but that doesn't mean he has to.  Of course that doesn't absolve the team or him from losing.  I want him to beat everybody.  I just want him to beat OSU, MSU and Notre Dame to the point of necessitating a restraining order.

2)   The people who don't believe that spread teams can't win in the Big Ten all I can say is please revisit history.  The old school Lloyd Carr Michigan teams got shredded by spread teams.  The read option spread can work in the Big Ten but like any offense, defense or special teams strategy you have to have the talent, and it has to execute.  I am pretty sure when Oklahoma got run out off the field by WVU, there weren't that many people complaining about how effectively the read option could work against a big bad Big 12 team.  Northwestern under Randy Walker was very competitive running the spread.  Troy Smith and the Buckeyes ran the spread.

I am looking forward to the day that the whole "Big Ten have big men who pound big rocks and play man sport and read option no work because everyone too small" meme ends.  It requires the right talent, and maturity to execute fully.  The 3-3-5 falls under the same category.  Rich hasn't lied about our lack of talent on the defensive side and it is evident on the field.  It will get better if Rich stays at Michigan.  His historical record shows that to be true.

It will be two losses in a row but then we will beat Penn State and hopefully all of this will calm down some.  I love all of my fellow Michigan fans but just as we were overconfident after 5 wins, we cannot be unrealistically despondent with one loss.

It is clear that RR hates losing and desperately wants to win every game, like any coach of course! I feel that RR is a elite coach and just needs time to shore up the defense and implement his lethal offense ( we are seeing some of that already) history shows he has had good defense in the past a WVU. Grant it they werent elite, but Solid. I just get the feeling he doesnt think of Mich St as more than just another game, or any other rivalry game for that matter. I just hope i see something that makes me feel different about that in the future. Lets Go Blue!!

This is as bad as "Brandon was brought in to replace Rich". You don't know what's in Brandon's head. Everyone seems to want to project however they feel about the situation into his head, because "he's smart, so he must think about the situation just like I do". He probably thinks about the situations like someone on the boards, because of the variety of opinion, but I know he doesn't think about it like EVERYone does.
