Ivan Maisel is SHOCKED that voters are ranking teams based on resume

I just wonder if this is a paradigm issue, that the traditionalists cannot understand resume voting because it encourages chaos, entropy, and "not knowing".
College football has long been about known quantities. The world had enough trouble convincing them that Boise State was a real team, and now they're shocked that Boise State might be punished for factors beyond their play on the field.

For some reason I was reading the most recent issue of ESPN the Magazine which has an article about the AP poll. They compare the AP preseason poll to the first BCS poll (which comes out in October) and argue that the BCS is a more accurate system. Holy logic fail!

Ivan Maisel also has the opportunity to vote in the ESPN Power Rankings, which he appears to feel are different than the actual polls after only two games in the season. If you look at his power ranking ballot, he doesn't include VT at all in his Top 25.

I'm a fan of polls not coming out til the first week in October. By then we have a solid foundation to pick from.
