OT: Longest Tennis Match in History Day 3 Open Thread
I really wish DFW was around still, I'd love to see his take of this match...
10 hours...this is just unbelievable!
It should be a while before the match re-starts. If I read this schedule correctly, two matches have to finish first (see court 18):
Yeah, now that I think about it I think you have the timing right - two women's matches have to play out first, and they typically don't take very long.
EDIT: The first match is already over. One to go!
They're waiting for Mahut and Isner to come on court now.
Going to listen to it in my office. Sweet
I can't believe I'm saying this - but I can't wait for this match to start back up. (What? I'm excited for a tennis match?!)
Edit: Ha, they're doing the wave.
Game on!
60-60
It's nice to see Isner actually moving today.
61-61
Isner comes across like he's tired of this crap, while Mahut seemed somewhat upbeat yesterday. Also, Mahut is in good shape; Isner looks like he's been to a kegger...
I agree. Isner seems to be waiting for Mahut to make enough mistakes to lose, and he's basically relying strictly on his thunderous serve to keep him in. It seems to be a matter of time until Mahut takes a service game from Isner and ends this.
Yeah, I am exceedingly impressed by Mahut, it may be blasphemous, but I wouldn't mind if he pulled this one out. It seems like he deserves it.
So, how long do you guys think this is going to last?
they should settle this with a foot race, Talledega Nights style:
And I'm playing tennis later today, lol. How can I watch 5 hours of a match and it's still not over, with no end in sight!
66-66
Betting lines on 150 games? And 200 for that matter...
Total.......
I meant for this set. Set at 137.
Edit: Nevermind. Was down 0-30 but back to back aces, a return of serve wide, and a return of serve into the net.
Now he's up 69-68
Match-point Isner
Fin.
ISNER WINS!!!!!!
Isner finally broke the Frenchmen. My estimates say they played for like an hour today...?
Arrrgh! I knew this would happen - when I go and do something else for a short time... game over.
I have never been much of a fan of the player whose game is almost exclusively defined by their serve, enabled by their great height. And it's boring tennis. Mahut was basically played for 3 days against someone who was serving from a ladder. I 'm sorry the guy lost.
