I may get killed for saying this, and I don't mean to offend anyone. But I wish the band would stop playing varsity in the pregame. I just don't think it does anything for the crowd.

Just my opinion.

I basically only have and only needed Fire Up It's Saturday.

I might bite at this one though. A new and updated Blues Brothers? It gets ironic when I hear Carl Grapentine say "by the year 2006 this music now known as the blues, will exist only in the classical record department of your local public library" during the intro.

Also, we get to hear Dr. Pasquale get introduced? I honestly believe he has restored the band back to greatness. The band was weak when the football team was weak, and suddenly, the power has returned.

AND, a recorded Parking Lot Victors and Drumline Cadence Series?

Seriously, this new CD is temptation (I'm sorry I had to...)

I know it wouldn't happen because of the cost to press a run compared to CD's, but I would love a high quality vinyl from the marching band. Outside of the Victors on compilation albums there is not much out there, and nothing past the 70s.

I do have a 45 of the victors that has a jazzy seductive female vocalist as the B side. real random and weird.

While I have my gripes with this CD, I do recommend it. There are no weak tracks (except Heath System Victors, but it's a version of The Victors so it gets a pass). The mix is fantastic and of course the playing is impeccable.

Full disclosure: I played on most of the tracks on this CD.

Wasn't it a hidden/bonus track on one of the later Nix CDs? Maybe the Blue Album? We definitely recorded it one year.

The warmup tune in 2007 was some Boerma composition. Something like "The Fugue" or "The Chorale"? The seniors all went out on the steps the morning of the OSU game and played Salvation is Created to get the whole thing out of their system...
