Harbaugh is going submarine with The Team
"We're going into a submarine tomorrow -- you won't see us for a while," Harbaugh said. "You won't hear from us or see us. We're going to be working, we're going to be in a bunker mentality -- until we decide we're not, until we decide to come up to the surface."

"I will defend."
Defense wins championships.

SSBN does nothing except drill and deter. SSGN is the varsity team because at any moment it may unleash the hell that is >100 Tomahawk missiles plus a SEAL squadron, CBASS-48s and mines. SSBN likely will never strike and except for the drills and quals is a snooze cruise. SSGN is constantly planning nefarious schemes and raiding intelligence. If you want to exercise those dolphins, you work to operate SSGN. Pax propter vim.
Regardless: we had subs, it was crazy.

Uhhh... the sailors on the boat, the commands of the Navy, and the National Command Authority really don't give a shit that you think that weapon system will never be used. The fact of the matter is, all of the above treat that platform like they are at war every day. It's intense, and THAT'S why it's never been used.

Boomers are some bad MF's, but they are really cold war relics.
The conversion to SSGN, with "revolver" inserts into the missile tubes the MICHIGAN can carry upwards of 120 Tomahawk Missiles. Plus the SDV, Seal Delivery Vehicle.

Sure, SSGNs have some cool toys, but nothing that makes them unique. For me, having 24 Trident II missiles is a much cooler cabability than 100 Tomahawks. SSGNs might be a more fun boat to be on, but the role a SSBN plays in the world is why I think they are cooler. I mean, they shoot things from underwater that go into space. SPACE BITCHES.

Glad they're submarining/bunkering....
I get excited about Harbaugh in Paris, Quarterback U, Supreme Court, etc. just like the next guy, but don't mean a thing unless you win. At some point, especially during fall football, they become distractions. So glad they're "bunkering."
Glad RR has a cool offense, has a tough strength and conditioning guy, nice story. But got to win.
Glad Hoke would walk to Ann Arbor, nice story. But got to win.

Hoke walking....LOL
I would.
I laughed out loud at this.
Was on the USS Michigan just last month. Incredible experience. Just like mentioned above, they DO confiscate all cameras and cell phones before going onboard. The best part was seeing the maize and blue/ block M and "those who stay......" sign prominantly displayed in the enlisted mess room.
The only problem is that it is an Ohio Class sub. I didn't realize that those 2 words can be used together.
GO BLUE!

I love the submarine like camp format but it's going to be torture. People will be freaking out for news.

I really thought they would be taking the team into a real submarine. That would have been awesome
I am sincerely disappointed
