O/U 6.5? How many in-state recruits does UM sign?

Submitted by umbig11 on

Just curious as to what effect Harbaugh has on in-state recruiting this year. How many of the top 11 does Michigan sign? All of these kids have been offered by Michigan excpt for Pettaway. Using Rivals as the gauge.

I am going with the over and 7.

Going with the under, can't imagine they get anything other than 6.  However in-state numbers should be about 8 especially with them offering Cameron Kolwich and having Reese on board.

They already have Falcon on board and just need to get five more out of the following group.

They seem to have at least a good shot with the following higher profile guys:

Corley, Jordan, Onwenu, Khareem(although I think it's going to be a tough fight with MSU), Lukasa,  and Fitzpatrick

There's also always the two to three in-state sleepers Michigan tends to pull every year and I see just about half the class being Michigan natives.

All of this seems to be to the positive.  It seems a good year for in-state talent and hopefully they can take advantage of it.

I'm thinking 6.

Falcon, Reese (duh), Fitzpatrick, Owenunu, Jordan, Corley...

Corley being the least likely of that group.

No indication Kareem is coming this way, so I think 6 is where we max out, which is pretty damn good.

Tangent question - how many do we want?

Cleaning up the state of MI is different then cleaning up the state of TX or FL or OH.  I think you do need to recruit your backyard well - keep those relationships over the years for the uber high end players and they are of course easier to recruit, but just doing it to keep them off other people's rosters if you can get players with a higher ceiling elsewhere is not a great strategy either.

As to the OP question, we have 2 now, and 2 more rumored to be close (Fitz, Hill).  So if true that would already take you to 4.  So the battle would be for your guys #2 thru #4.  Do you get 2 or 3 of those.

Commits: 2

Reese

Falcon

UM heavily favored:3

Fitzpatrick

Kolwich

Nordin

UM in tight race, or slightly ahead: 6

Corley

Kareem

Onwenu

Hill

Jordan

Vance

UM trails:2

Hayes

Lukusa

Already at 2 and let's say they land all 3 favored and since we're being conservative they split the battles which would bring the count to 8.Could go as high as 11

Under, I'm thinking 5-6. I think we will lock down Corley, Fitzpatrick, Onwenu, and Hill. Obviously Reese and Falcon are already committed so that would put it at 6. Nice to be taking care of business in Michigan.
