Internet Sleuthing: Rashan Gary's Injury Status

Submitted by Maison Bleue on October 17th, 2018 at 4:00 PM

I was perusing The Victors Club board over at 247 and saw some discussion on Tarik Black's injury. In the discussion thread umbig11 chimed in with this:

Which of course is good news in regards to Black, but the additional news about Gary is very concerning. Another poster responded to him and this was umbig11's response back:

Not good, Bob. There was an additional thread on the board about Gary being shut down for the year ala Bosa and umbig11 chimed in yet again with this:

So at the very least, it seems Gary won't be back this week :( and is possibly considering shutting it down for the season... Why can't we has nice things?

Hopefully, I am not breaking MGoRules by posting these screenshots from a paywalled thread. I figured umbig11 posts inside info here regularly and he doesn't work for 247, so fair game?

I think he took a few weeks off so he was fresh to pummel State. Strategic plan also so Dantini doesn't know to game plan for him or not.

Give him a cortisone shot and send him out there for Saturday to destroy Lewerke.  Gary with one good shoulder is still more productive than most guys with two good shoulders.

Gary has been very good against the run, but a disappointing pass rusher.  If he couldn't beat his guy off the snap, he had nothing else and was just pushed past the QB.  He's had 9 sacks in three years.  Clowney had 8 as a freshman.  Paye will certainly be a more productive pass rusher, and from what I've seen of Hutchinson, I think he will be, also.

I'd rather have the great pass rusher than the great run defender in this era of football.  Look at Wisconsin, they were able to run the ball fairly well, but when they had to drop back and pass, they embarrassed themselves.

Gary was certainly a good player, but he was not the beast he was advertised to be.

Until he announces he’s done, and I don’t think he will, I think there’s a good chance he plays against osu if Michigan heads into that game 10-1. And if they win, the b1g championship.

Man, if Gary is done that would make 4 NJ kids who failed to live up to massive hype here - Peppers, Walker, Singleton, Gary,  Maybe NJ shouldn't be a recruiting hotbed.
