New PSU documentary blames media for Paterno's downfall

Submitted by Leaders And Best on

New PSU documentary called "The Framing of Joe Paterno" in which they (including a member of the PSU Board of Trustees, a PSU professor, and of course the crazy rantings of Franco Harris) blame the media for Joe Paterno's downfall and firing.  The ironic thing is they build part of their argument railing against ESPN and Mark Schwarz for "protecting" Bernie Fine whose case was dropped by the Feds today.

Video includes a confrontation between the director and ESPN's Mark Schwarz at Beaver Stadium on the sideline.

You cannot compare the two. In the case of Cuse, the sole "victim" was some dude who apparently slept with the coaches bitter wife and, according to him, had consensual intercourse with Fine into, at least, his mid 20s. His testimony was inconsisten left and right. On one tape he says this and on another he completely contradicts himself. His story was not corroborated, then corroborated, then not corroborated, the corroborated, etc., by his druggie brother, who has a shady past, a record, and (likely) along with his brother wanted to get some $$$ from Fine, in light of the PSU coverage. Of the other two "victims" in the Fine case, one was a felon who admitted that he flat out lied (and never actually met Fine) and the other was about to get a couple of decades in prison for molesting small kids and, it turned out, he (admittedly) lied as well. In the PSU case, the assistant actually caught Sandusky in the act and the whole PSU admin covered it up, including Paterno.

Everytime I think PSU has suffered enough and it's time to give them a break, they go ahead and do something so unabashedly shameful to reignite my hatred of them.

Creating a "documentary" that tries to rewrite history fits into this category

F*#k Penn State....and oh yeah, beat Nebraska.

I am not surprised at all by this junk. These people will never acknowledge that their old coach was an unethical person. I hope to God Pitt rails them when they play again in 2016 and 2017. I am looking forward to those games more than any and its 2012.

First off, I would encourage no one to waste their time with this video. In summary, the video jumps around interviews connecting them to make it seem like there is not conclusive evidence that concealement  occurs.

I can't believe Franco Harris agreed to do this documentary as well as some Board of Trustee members. I wonder if he is still happy he participated.

The common thing about the interviews is inconsistenty. They argue there was confusion of the sexual terms used by Mcquery and Patterno during their explanations.
At one point the producer of this video, makes the comment that no sexual act occured in the shower because the victim withdrew the claim at a later date.

?!?!?!!What are you talking about?

This video trys to defend Sandusky. I am flabbergasted that this person is still making these claims. I am glad that this presentation could not be censored on the internet because it is a reminder to me that people from my home will still make these claims. With that said, most PSU graduates do not think like this producer.

Two decent claims he made:

The University did not have a person who could speak for them with all the leaders of the school being eliminated. However, why couldn't the chairman of the board step up and fill that void?

The other is that the media did not pursue Sandusky to interview like they did with Patterno. On the other hand, what about the Bob Costas interview?

I know another board member at the university, and he has condemned Patterno. Isn't it funny that only one board member agreed to do this video?

He does make the correct claim that Patterno built the pride the school has. Without Patterno, PSU would be largely an irrelevant farm school. A nice parallel would be Thomas Jefferson built the US, but it doesn't change the fact that he was a racist.

This video shows that we have a few ppl who are still trying to save the image of Patterno at all costs. As a Pennsylvania resident, I hope my state's public institution can recover from this scandal, and I hope people learn from it and build a better place to learn and play football.
