Ray Small arrested with Oxycontin and loaded handgun

Submitted by cbuswolverine on

According to the Pomeroy Daily Sentinel, the Ohio State Highway Patrol arrested Small in Meigs County on Sunday evening. The 24-year old, who last played for the Buckeyes in 2009, was pulled over by Trooper James Trelka, who discovered over 200 suspected Oxycontin tablets.

That could be the least of Small’s worries. He was also in possession of hand-rolled marijuana cigarettes, a loaded 25 caliber pistol and what is believed to have been heroin.

and had two different characters try to speak out about corruption at a respected institution, then both of them get pulled over on weapons charges, I'd probably have the D.A. looking into the "Sacred Brotherhood" or some other nefarious group to see if they might be behind this coincidence.

Here's Mike Brewster last May after Small talked to the Lantern and before he tried to recant his story:

"Show me a coward and I will show you Ray Small," center Mike Brewster tweeted.  "He isn't part of the sacred brotherhood anymore. Never on time, never accountable, never sacrificed for the team. Can you trust his word?"

But in real life, it tends to be the coincidence of the same recruiter, the same discipline system, the same environment, and the fact that sometimes, coincidences just happen.

I actually live in Meigs County, about 10 minutes from where Small was arrested. This area is notorious for growing marijuana and prescription abuse, but based on the area where He was arrested, (about 2 miles from the bridge between Ohio and West Virginia) my guess is that he was on his way to Charleston, West Virginia. There's been numerous arrests in Meigs County of people that are traveling from Columbus to Charleston to transport drugs. Obviously with the amount of drugs he had in the car, he wasn't just using.  Not sure what my point is, just sharing the information. Although the drug abuse in this county and all over the country is sad, as a Michigan fan living in Meigs County where he was arrested, I am enjoying it! All of the Ohio State fans around here are very proud! lol

There is nothing good about this story.  I'm not knocking the OP for posting because it is interesting, but man does this kid's life seem like a waste.  At 24, after getting a chance at a free education and (possibly) a very lucrative sports career, to be caught with 200 tablets of Oxycotin and a handgun on his way to (I presume) a drug drop-off is just sad.  I know kids fall through the cracks and all, and I love seeing OSU get pillored for being hypocrits, but I take no pleasure in seeing stuff like this.

Now, Pryor being drilled while dropping back for the Raiders, that I can take pleasure in.
