Hello Gary Yerden - Preferred Walk-On

Nice to see that quality preferred walk-on that looks like a diamond in the rough football player but a high quality and character person. Welcome to the University of Michigan Gary!
responded. This staff is about relationships. Hoke is right...we need this type of body ... if only to allow this team to scrimmage without wearing pennies. Walking on is not easy. Good luck Gary. I hope that scholarship is well earned.
It wasn't his coach that reached out to the Michigan staff; it was another coach in the area.
CBeeks, I agree with this and your previous post in this thread RE: the importance of strong relationships within the High School coaching ranks.
Now there is big and there is Girthy! This kid is girthy. He'll probably be buried on the depth chart but the fact remains, he deadlifts 630lbs!! Most impressive!
That's probably more than anyone on the roster right now. Mike Martin is more of a bench press specialist.

so I couldn't say for sure where he ranks among current players, but 630 lbs is a shit ton of weight. And shit ton is a technical, measurable unit. Look it up.
Third straight weightlifting title? Dude has been winning this thing since he was 15 years old. He must be an absolute freak. I bet he hits it off with Mike Martin.
Let's hope so!
I'm from Pennfield High School in the KVA and we played him. Aside from him being freakishly big, he's an amazing athlete. He also played basketball. He can definitely run.
I was looking through our highlight videos trying to find some footage of him, but I only found one play that you could clearly see him. Fast forward to :20 in

I just looked at the current roster, and Gary Yerden isn't on it. Anyone know what happened?
