Thanks for posting the Ortmeyer goal. Those regional games were amazing to watch. Win over DU was even sweeter since their coach elected to kick Michigan out of their own locker room for the tournament as he could do that as the top seed.
The AD already had a $16m surplus in the operating budget last year w/out suites and club seats from Michigan Stadium. Instead of coming out and making a decision about what direction the football program is going in, time is being spent on finding more ways to make money through weddings at the stadium.
The idea itself is fine, but let's make sure all the sports are winning before organizing bake sales and other things to raise more money.
True, but he wasn't handed a program that was starting from scratch. Saying you are "building a program" discounts everything that was done prior to 2007.

I'm so tired of hearing RR say that he is building a program. This isn't Indiana or MSU. You were given the best "program" in the history of NCAA football. Yes, changes needed to be made and RR needed to update the program to his scheme and philosophy, but he wasn't hired to build a program. The program was already built and it was his job to be the caretaker.
Hall stayed for all 5 years, went undrafted and signed with the Lions. Shantee Orr left early with a redshirt year available and went undrafted. Orr is out of the NFL, Hall is still playing.

Red wanted to play the game and Bill Martin approved it. DB was just around when it was played.
Can't prove it for you...but Michigan wasn't a program to be built from ground zero...Did have the most wins of any DI program, etc., etc.
Best program in DI football on 1/2/08 - no.
Best program from the start of college football to now - I would say yes.
