The two things that make me so happy about this coach are
1. - demands perfection knowing that it won't happen but the result will be enough to get the job done...
2. - the part about not getting as many sacks but playing Michigan defense...
The worst part of the RR era for me was watching 128 years of Michigan football being erased because the coach didn't like defense!!
I totally agree with you! Except I think after a few series we should have at least tried Devin at QB... Couldnt have hurt any to do that... After going 0-11 the coach needed to say ok, this guy is rattled at best and at worst he is unprepared to play in this type of game setting... I believe Devin would have given us some running game ability and only been a small drop off from Denard...
Is the best in the business without exception!! This year he has taken a rag tag group of individuals and turned them into a competent defense! All the guys on the team have talent and most that are playing were hand picked so to speak, but not very many had much game experience... Hence Alabama.. I truly believe if we played them again now, they would win again but it would be a much lower scoring affair and closer game! Also, looking back at it, our 14 pts were not that bad against that team either...
He has had three awesome college defenses before coming back here in his career...
I attribute the "97" defense to him
He had that ND defense
The 2005-06 Florida defense
I'm not even counting the NFL ravens D he coached!
I've been screaming that thought all year about the depleted talent Al is working with!! If you noticed there are lots of hoke/mattison players on defense but offense has almost all RR left overs and most would be second string at best on a Carr team from years back...

It's alrIght to storm and Gatorade the Ohio game because it's "the game" and it's the end of the year, but MSU is little brother and should be treated as such... You wouldn't run around the driveway if you beat your little bro in basketball so therefore...the whole 4years thang is only because of the wcimfh doing his damage to this rivalry! If you take away the 3 years of his rein you get a year or maybe two where MSU had a good team... I believe that this year Hoke and company get things back in the normal order they should be and the solar system can go back to its normal rotation!
I hope the Scout team can do what I think they can which is resemble a completely mediocre MSU team!! My only worry is the snap count jumping, but I think Al will fix this from a schematic standpoint... Really what needs to happen is Denard needs to get savy with his cadence!
I agree on having to do something about the snap count jumping they did last year! I'm not sure Denard is savy enough to pull a Rick Leach type of thing though... He seems to be a straight shooter that can only be just that... Maybe it goes like this... Ready!..... Set!.... Imma gonna run all over y'all now!... Go!
I bet he could have been one helluva BBall player!! With his stop and go burst that Hoke talks about and agility... He has the tools and raw athletic talent that he could have been a two sport athlete! Now, making the transition may have been difficult, but he basically plays BBall on grass at the Big House most Saturday's in the fall!
I love how these tools (reporters) try everything they can to get Hoke to say MSU is as/more important than ohio... After 20 months you would think they could know that Brady has a special hatred for the bucknutz!! Now, I have to say I can't figure out who I dislike more... ScuMeyer or Dicktonio!
