Good luck!

Good luck man!  I've only run a half, but that was in formation at Corporal's Course at Henderson Hall.... so doesn't count.

Anyway, after the '06 loss I've been far more numb and beaten up about the program, so I haven't had that same heart ripped out feeling.  I hope we win, but we've been so bad against this team that other than the Luke Fickell year, which was much closer than I would have liked.

Go Blue

Hope

The one thing that I'm using to inspire hope for this week is that Harbaugh did prove he can punch the bully in the face.  He beat USC with a Stanford team that was still being rebuilt.   That was a talented USC team too, before they fell off a bit in the last few seasons.

Though I fear he was aided by USC not being fully focused on Stanford as it  wasn't a threat yet.

I started my addiction too late

Sadly I didn't start my Michigan football addiction until I was already in the Marines.  I remember winning the National Championship when I was in high school, but didn't follow the team closely.   I started with Navarre.... so sadly I don't remember too much of the good guys winning.  So I started following during the downward slide.  Kept my faith through RR and Hoke...

I hope you're right!

I have a hard time thinking that OSU would be left out if they beat us and end the season with 1 loss.  The media, coaches, and every other talking head just loves them too much.  I think they get in with a win regardless of the conference champtionship.  They may even get in with a loss against us.  The math on that one is harder to come up with, but everyone other than Florida and Michigan fans seem to love Urban and seem to want them to get in.

I really need a Michigan win to keep my sanity though.  We've been on the wrong side of this for too long.

good point

How many games did Lewis miss to start the year?  2-3?   With Lewis missing time, why are the OSU players snaps so low?  Rotation?

Playing time

I think all of the QBs start off slow trying to grasp a Harbaugh Offense.  Remember how slow Rudock started (admitted he only had fall camp) being an experienced player.  How long Speight took to really get his feed under him.  Okorn is definitely rusty, and similar to Speight after getting beat up, has reverted back to his bad tendencies while under pressure.  Speight didn't get his feet back under him until the bye week when he could work on everything Harbaugh taught him.

I think Okorn would have been good had he played earlier and more often.  However, if Harbaugh wanted Speight to make that Rudock progression, he needed all of that playing time too, right?  I can't fault Harbaugh for keeping Speight in as long as he could when he was planning on needing him for this OSU game in the most hostile of stadiums.

With all of that rambling, I also don't think Harbaugh is going to pull anything new out this week.  I think he is in the mindset of play everything you have to force them to prepare for everything you have.  I don't think we'll see any fancy new RPOs added to the playbook if it wasn't in there to begin with.  I think OKorn will continue to run, but still in the confines of what they already have run the last 11 weeks.

I'm definitely a doom and gloomer, so thanks to those in this blog that help shine positive spins.  I've lurked since the RichRod coaching search, but often find myself too negative to let myself log in and post.

agree with this

I completely agree with this!   I've been surrounded by OSU fans throughout my career and it seems as though every office I've worked in, there is a rabid contingent that has made the last 11-12 years miserable.  At this point, I don't care if OSU loses the game which gives us the win.  I just want to have a chance to go to work with my head held high.

agree

I had to change the channel.   Brian and Todd in the USC/UCLA game both gave their picks for the final top 6 and both included OSU and Wisc.  They both expect Michigan to lose as well.  I agree that our chances are now much more slim, but as others have said, OSU beat MSU by a missed 2 point conversion that probably should have been a field goal with almost 4 minutes left.

Reading these make me feel better

When I watch the games live it, I have far more pessimism, so I tend to think the defense is doing worse than it is.  Thanks for doing these Brian, they help keep me sane about how the D is actually performing.

Question though, and probably stupid, but how does PFF get through so many games so quickly?  Do they hire former coaches players etc?  Is is possible that the points vary because Brian puts in more time on this specific team rather than speeding through a ton of games to get paid content out by a deadline?

Thanks Ace

Thanks for powering through the cold.  I try not to follow recruiting, but I can't help myself!

Very sad for the music world

I listened to STP more than any other band in the early '90s.  They were a huge part of me getting into music.  Sadly, the need to do something with my life (Marines and education) got in the way of me following up on anything music wise... but that's life.

I got to see them live once in Grand Rapids in the '90s when they were doing their acoustic set that lowered from the rafters.   Pretty amazing show.

I wallow in self pity over a game

Not something I'm proud of, but I do turn off the TV and go wallow in self pity for a few days.  When I'm overseas I at least have work all day and pass out when I'm done at night, so that helps.  At home I really need a better hobby.  I lurk on the board to see if I'm the only one who takes a game too seriously.  I've been a lurker on here since about 2007, but really got into Michigan football when my Uncle took me to The Game in 2001, so I've had the ups and downs in my fandom.

Happy Birthday

Semper Fidelis and go blue!

saved by the holding call!

saved by the holding call!  If only we can get a turnover now

drive breaker

That's a drive breaker right there...  Better than an interception though

Half-time changes

I'm hoping to see more half-time changes this year than what we've had in the past.

I personally find that

I personally find that hillarious!  However, I don't think I have the proper FB audience to use the sports reporter format with.  While I do have a few Michigan friends/family, they aren't nearly as fanatical as I am.

It is a risky move if true.

It is a risky move if true.  One thing that another poster mentioned in a different thread is that UM can use performance based pay for the other coaches.  (National Championship winning coaches aside)  Look at what JH has been able to do (SB loss, but still SB, and 3 straight NFC championship games).   Aside from Miles and Stoops, (who may not be on the table) which other plan B coaches could show a resume that warrants that money?
