The offense scored just over 34 points a game. IMO, that should be enough to win them all, especially if we do not regress on defense. So, I ask if it is possible to find the statisitical liklihood that we score fewer points than last year (with all the key factors mentioned above).
Second, there were only 2 games where we needed to score more points. I wonder if it is statistically possible to see how much scoring improvement we can expect for our "worst" games, rather than scoring improvement over our season average.
Hopefully, this allows the hitters to relax and swin easy at the plate.
Are the two unearned runs a concern, or was that due mostly to mixing up the defense? I recall that we were not sharp defenisvely in some of the earlier games.
Two close losses to top 10 teams, 2-0 ot Oklahoma, and 1-0 to ASU. Defense and pitching look like they are at the level we typically expect. MGoSoftball has said predviously that hitting has struggled against weaker pitching, so not really a suprise against these top teams. Still lots of time to turn that phase of the game around.
It is sad to that a quality athlete and a Michigan fan does not have a spot on this team. That's the problem with having a great school, a great program, and a great coaching staff. Not everyone who wants to play here will be able to recieve a spot, even some very good players.
But I do wish you had better news. IMO, although slumps can be fixed during the season, I believe these issues around hitting and errors will likeluy need the off season before they are fully addressed.
Whatever, happens, I am certain that our coaches will figure out how to maximize this team's potential. Go Blue!!
