I think he has good ideas on this. As far as recruiting goes he needs to stress his NFL experience. He needs to tell recruits he can get them to the NFL. Kids don't go to schools because of helmets or fight songs. They go for the NFL. Helmets and fights songs are just gravy.
This is not something to worry about. Coach Howard is rebuilding a program. Losing out on 5 star recruits and having players transfer is what happens when you rebuild and remake a program in your image. Coach being part of the Fab 5 is all that is needed. All he needs to do is ask recruits to read Mitch Albom's book and watch ESPN documentaries. Jalen and Chris when they are on tv are always praising Juwan Howard. UM is a helmet program.
Tom Brady because he was under-appreciated and has had a great pro career and Rick Leach cause he showed that you can do the herb and be a good big ten qb.
I doubt he turns things around. Look at where he's won. He's never faced competition like the he's going to face in the B1G. I mean he's turned around programs, but he's never had much to compete against. I think they made a mistake with the hire and now the contract extension.
He'll recruit MAC-level talent and a good year would be 7-5 with an easy non-conference schedule which is what they seem to want at Minnesota.
